If you subscribe to a basic Public Mobile plan with little to no data can it be turned off ? With other providers we were able to turn off data so there wasn't any chance of a data overage. Or if you reach your limit is data simply turned off automatically? I'm thinking of getting my elderly parent to subscribe but they are on a limited budget with absolutely no use for data.

Keep in mind if you use all your data Public Mobile may send a text asking you if you want to purchase a data ads-on. Just make sure they don't reply to the text that they want more data.

Thank you, that may work for the first year. We will have to look into that. The 400 minutes a year may not be enough as that's only just over 30 min of calls per month. Thank you for the recommendation !!

@Darren21 Do they use their phone/s much for voice calls? Telus currently has a $100 a year plan that normally has 400 minutes of voice and 400 texts but it is currently on promo with unlimited voice and texting plus 2GB a month of data. After a year it reverts back to 400 + 400.

That's perfect as long as you cannot go over what's included in the pre paid plan that's great !! We have turned cellular data off in the past on the device itself but somehow he has managed to turn it back on in the past. That's super helpful thank you.

@Darren21 You can turn cellular data off in phone. Settings . But also remember public mobile is pre paid service so even if they use up the included data the data just stops working and there no surprise bill as you can only use what you have already paid for
