I am trying to find out when I joined public mobile and if I ported my number from Freedom Mobile or was assigned a new one? I can only go back 6 months on my bill.

Hi @Phreak So Bell is asking you back money after so many years? Didn't they at least provide you the phone number that they are chasing for? Get the number so at least you got that straight

@Phreak Were you with Freedom before you went to Bell? The only thing I can think of to explain your situation (assuming you were with Freedom before Bell then went back to Freedom), is that when you went from Bell to Freedom you didn't port your number at that time and took a new number when you got Freedom leaving your Bell account still open. IF you weren't with Freedom before Bell then I don't know why Bell is saying that you owe them money.

When you were with bell did you have paper billing or an online account? Do you recall being sent 5 months of billing? Disconnection notices are generally sent at 60 days past due. Then 14 days before disconnection. And the provider must attempt to contact you 24 hours before disconnection (3× I think?) Disconnection would have had to occur during normal business hours Monday to Friday. Do you recall getting any kind of written notices of this ilk?
It seems to me that it took bell an awfully long time to disconnect your services after you left and for you not to recall the collections department hounding you and then having various less scrupulous collection agencies trying to recover a debt then reselling the debt to another agency and so on.... Has bell registered this as a bad debt with equifax and transunion?
You have a viable complaint for the CCTS to investigate that would require bell to turn over all of their evidence of them attempting to contact you, the paper trail and the relevant dates. If this is the first you have been made aware of a possible outstanding debt from bell then you will fall within the time limits set on filing a complaint against a provider. Don't wait too long to do so as the immediacy of you filing a complaint after this info has been brought to your attention does factor into how the CCTS accepts/handles your complaint.

@Phreak 289-700 is a phone number owned by Freedom
289-788 is a number from Freedom as well
Both numbers were from Freedom so you would not have ported those number from Bell. When you were with Bell, you must have another number

289 700 and 289 788 both "belong" to Freedom.

A quick search shows thise two numbers are owned by wind....now freedom. From the Hamilton area....sound familiar?
Edit:
The question is....did you cancel your Bell account? Porting automatically cancels the account. A successful port.

I use this for calculating dates:
https://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html
But doing this requires knowing if it was always uninterrupted service. If an account gets suspended then it gets a new start date on renewal.

Was your bell phone number origjnally from bell? The phone numbers can be looked up as I am sure will be posted before I even finish this post....?

Try to find welcome email from PM when you signed up.

If you look at your last payment date, build an easy excel program to successively do minus 30 and will give a date close to what you remember. How many months ago do you thnk you joined up?
Look for a bank or credit card statement that shows your first payment....there could be up to 7 years of statements available to you, online.
Or tell me your last payment due date and I will post potential dates for you.

Is there a larger issue at play? If you ported at activation and the port did not complete then pm automatically reassigns an account a new number after 30 days. If you did not request a port in at activation then you would chosen a phone number at that time. Try searching your phone log history or your text history from 611 to see when messages from freedom stopped and the overlap from pm began and check 30 days hence for any number changes. Did you save or archive your activation details? Welcome email or your 4 digit account pin # that was texted via 611 if you activated in store.

Thank you all for the great help on my sign up date (insert big thumbs up here) the final part of my query is how do I tell if I was assigned a new number of had it ported? To make a long story short Bell Canada is saying I owe them for a account from 2018 but I cancelled services with them in November of 2018 (they are saying THEY cancelled the account in March of 2019, and I owe them) and went to Freedom Mobile (but cannot remember if I ported the Bell number?) and then in 2019 came to Public Mobile (much much better coverage area!!!!!!!!) so I am just trying to track my number because it was 289 700 5***, and somewhere between Bell and Freedom it changed to 289 788 7***, so I am attempting to prove chain of number because I cannot remember if I ported the number from Bell to Freedom (the 700) and then when I went from Freedom to public switched to the (788). I hope this all makes sense and is not too convoluted?
Basically somewhere Between Bell, Freedom and Public Mobile my number switched from the 700 to 788, knowing at what junction this occurred will help me fight Bell with the amount they state I owe.

Hi @Phreak check email, PM would have sent you an welcome email when you joined
Check Credit Card, they likely have history for more than 6 months. Many have at least 18months or longer

You community is this date, did you activate the SIM at the same time as your community account?
Also you can go back 1 year to see payment history..you just need to select the dates rather than the drop down menu.
How are you going to be able to find out if you ported your freedom number or activated with a temporary one? I am not sure on that one.
Can you explain if that is what you meant?

If you created your PM account same day as your Community account...looks like 10-12-2019.

If you use the calendar dates you can go back 360 days using the 6 months option and choosing the dates beyond what you could currently access.
