Traveling and airplane mode

Since Public Mobile is prepaid and I'm paying for plans in Canada ... If I'm going to Paris, does it matter if I'm not in airplane mode? Does it Roam?

HI @mu100   there is no roaming in Paris for PM anyway.

PM is prepaid and they won't charge you extra by accident, so there is no advantage or disadvantage to putting that on airplane mode or not

I guess you will still use Wifi, make sure after you turn on Airplane mode, you have to turn the Wifi back on after

The only reason that I recommended turning it off (either in setting or by airplane mode) is to conserve battery life.

When my phone is in dual sim mode the battery discharges faster and needs to be recharged more frequently.

Good alternative, go with that PM won't be effected at all, there is no way you can get charged any overages with PM as it is prepaid.

On the iPhone after you add an Esim there will be a section under cellular labeled cellular plans which allow you to turn on or off the cellular plans.  If you only have one cellular plan on the phone then airplane mode will turn it on and off.

Good tip! Is that under the "Carrier - Choose a Network Provider" section?

I would suggest turning off Public Mobile in your phone settings while you are in europe.  If you leave it on your phone will be constantly searching for a Public Mobile network to connect too wearing your battery down faster.

@cketernal

Getting that esim plan is your best option.

Good choice. Yes, all is good. No need to disable any of those options when over there.  Have a great trip!

Thx for the quick reply, guys.

I'll only be gone for a week, but was planning on buying one of these eSims from Airalo, 10gb for $22.50 US. If I use that, not sure if disabling Roaming or disabling cellular data would affect its usage. So if Public Mobile doesn't need to have those disabled, then all should be good (?). Reason for my initial question.

@cketernal

If you are going to Paris, it doesn't matter if it is on Airplane mode or Roaming because PM doesn't work in Paris. There are no Telus cell towers in Paris but I would suggest you disable Roaming just encase.

How long will you be gone?

If you stop payment for 90 days then time account will be closed and you will lose your number.

@cketernal

Public doesn't have roaming in Europe so it doesn't matter if airplane mode is on or off. Don't worry about it.
