Transfer of Responsibility

Hello everyone,

I unfortunatly am going to be closing down my PM account, and moving over to a comped work phone with Rogers. I have been asked by my employer to get a 'Transfer of responsibility' from my current provider, along with a Transaction ID to ensure rogers can properly take over the line. Is someone able to point me in the right direction?

I don't really think you need to transfer anything. Your employer can provide you with a phone and all new Rogers service. Just let your service drop out of sight here and you're good to go.

Going a bit off topic, I personally do not like mixing business with pleasure.  Companies give their employees a phone so that they can "work" 24/7.  There are times when the company phone needs to conveniently run out of power.  That may interfere with personal use.  Then there is the need to separate the privacy of individual use with that of the company.  It is awkward having to explain extra charges or even included usage.  A company phone is the property of the company.  Anyway, I used to carry a pager and when pagers were replaced with cell phones, it was a convenient time for me to argue the lack of need for the upgrade.  I gave up my pager and all the encumbrances that goes with it.

@kleblanc, do you wish to keep the current phone number with this service?  If you do, you should supply Rogers with the Public Mobile account number so they can move the number for you.  Once the number is ported out, the account on this end closes.

If you've got a really good plan, you may wish to change your account information to someone else, so they can port their number in, and take over your account.

NOTE:  This would force you to accept a new phone number on the work phone, and not use your current number at all any longer.

Thanks, just to clarify, I will no longer be using my phone, but will be keeping it as a backup! My employer is going to escalate with rogers. Thanks for your reply.

Then you could simply let this service expire. At the end of your current paid term the service expires. Then 90 days later it deactivates and you're completely gone from here.

Note: remove autopay and your credit card first. If you have a balance in Available Funds then unfortunately you'll forfeit that. If that balance is enough to cover your plan cost then it'll renew anyway unless you set the lost/stolen feature.

I would suggest the employer supply you with a phone and service rather than you using your phone. That way you can keep your phone as a backup or for a spouse or something.

Porting your number over is trivial though. I don't know what all information Rogers needs but your account number is in the upper right of the self-serve.
