Texting in the U.S.

I am on the $10/month plan.  What happens if I am in the US and someone sends me a text if I don't purchase the roaming Addon?  Will I receive the text? And if I respond to the text will I be charged? Or can I respond to the text?

Public Mobile does not have any pay-per-use charges for anyting so no, you won't get charged for receiving a text message. As others said, the incoming text message will be delivered to while you are in the U.S. free of chrage, even if you don't have a roaming add-on.

NO NO NO.  You will not be charged, or have to pay if you try to text without a roaming plan in the US.  You will receive texts from anyone who sends you one, but you can not return/respond without first adding the roaming add-on.

This prepaid system has no 'shock SMS, shock data, or shock calling' charges.  Period.

Not a great start there for your first post. There will be no charges for anything. If you don't pay for a service beforehand then you won't get the service or be charged for the attempt.

Hi, You can "text" with and app like Hangouts or Whatsapp  (and many others) or email over a secured WIFI connection for free while out of Canada. Hotels , Coffee shops, and Resturaunts offer free secured WIFI.

FYI: Public Mobile is a Prepaid Provider that doesn't have any overages or pay per use charges.  Just curious how do you expect Public Mobile to Charge you?

@elhota1 Public Mobile plans with text messaging include outgoing messages while you are in Canada, not while you are anywhere else.  The only other place other than Canada that outgoing text messaging will work while you are there is the U.S., but only if you text from USA you need to buy a USA texting addon.

You will be able receive the text in the US, but you will not be able to respond.  You will not be charged extra.  You will need to buy a 10 day US roaming add on to respond.

You might recieve the text, but you won't be able to respond without an appropriate 10 day US Roaming Add-on.
