Switch to Koodo $40/6GB Plan

Smith171
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

Why would I have to switch to Koodo to get this plan

Why was this not offered to the customers at Public Mobile

I want in to a Koodo store and they said they would have do a credit check and a plan for 2 years

Wasn't the promo code the validation code

I don't see where I have to do this.

Please offer this plan at Public Mobile

@Smith171, what is your rant all about?  If you have the 2016 fall promo plan, you would have received a text message with the migration offer.  The major features of the plan was listed in the text along with how to sign up.  If you did not receive the offer, this is not applicable to you.

As for 2 year contracts, there are none involved with this migration offer.  Ever since the new wireless code came into effect, no carrier provides a contract for consumer cell plans.  It is not allowed anymore.  Generally, at your discretion, you can get a device with a cell plan which will be repaid over a period of 24 months in equal installments.  Koodo's implementation of hardware add-on to a cell plan involves a tab payment of $10, $15 and $21 per month for small, medium and large tab, respectively, that is added on top of the cell plan price for a period of 24 months.  Once the tab payments are complete, this cost is removed from the bill.  New hardware can be purchased at any time, provided any outstanding tab balance from a previous hardware purchase is paid off in full.  Generally, full payment of tab balance is not allowed within the first 90 days of commencing a new tab.  Qualification for tab size is plan dependent.  Generally more expensive plans are needed for the larger tabs.  For the migration plan, small and medium tabs are available.  I hope this helps you with your decision whether stay or migrate.

thanks all.  I was aware of the medium tab.  what confused me was the walmart guy saying if i get a phone mid term then i had to change plans  to a current in market plan.  just  a look

the $45 doesn't apply because we are medium plan eligible.  so i guess more misinformation from walmart.

edit: @koimr1 realised i posted teh same link you did. 🙂

The $40 6GB Koodo migration plan can be put on no tab, tab small, or tab medium. All of those options work if you play around with the different options for online ordering.

Anyone know if I don't get a phone now but want one in 6 months do I have to get a new plan?  The guy at Walmart said that is how koodo now works.

I am pretty sure you can add a Tab online at any time.  When you login to self sere you just hit eh shop button and select phones and i think you can add that to your account.

@mimmo

Might be a question to ask their CS. I thought the promo plan was eligible for a Medium Tab but then there's this:

Keeping or changing your plan when you upgrade your phone

That seems to suggest that you need to be on a plan that costs a minimum $45 to be eligible unless you're in Quebec apparently. I'd verify with CS just to be safe. 🙂

This plan is eligible for Medium Tab many have already received phones on Medium Tab who have switched

Only if you get a phone, which you can pay off at any time. So, the short answer is no, it's not for 2-years. On their front page they also say "No contract".

Unforutantely, this plan is only being offer over at Koodo.  You don't have to take a 2 year tab contract but yes, a credit check is required.  The Koodo plan is on a postpaid billing arrangement.

Since some of us were targeted with a price increase, and PM would no longer offer their plan, a lot of us left. Yes, they retreated after, but PM is no longer honourable. Between the PM stick and the Koodo caroot(s), the choice was "easy". Keep in mind, they are both owned by Telus and corporately they could probably care less about which sister company you are with. However, it definitely impacts those with bad/no credit.

For now, enjoy whatever plan you have as things may remain the same for a while - no one who makes <$200K has a crystal ball.
