Hi. I plan to switch my subscription for 2 months to facilitate a Mexico trip. Will my current plan still be available so I can return to it after the trip? My concern is I don't want to lose access to the $18 plan.

Good plan except they could only communicate with other Whatsappers. Friends and fam would also have to subscribe to Whatsapp. OP wouldn't be able to call anyone not on Whatsapp. I use a combination Whatsapp and TextNow for those times.

Hello @Sonnyboykev
Here is what I would do. Honestly, it's the smart play here to keep your $18.
Method one, look for a Mexican sim card or esim from a site like Sally, Holafly or Airalo and do what @hairbag1 suggested by getting a VOIP phone to bring with you.
OR... and I like this idea MUCH better...
Just sign up for a Mexican included plan with a seperate email address and different phone number. You just forward your $18 plan so your calls go to the temporary number. For text messages, for androids you can use SMS Forwarder or AutoForward Text to forward your text messages. For iPhone, you create a new automation in Shortcuts app to trigger Send Messasge action whenever one is received.
When you return, turn off autopay or turn it off as soon as you sign up, then the plan just goes away and the best part, you just kept your $18 plan!

you will lose the $18 plan when you get back as it won't be available to you. Once you upgrade to higher value plans, it's difficult to downgrade. Your $18 plan isn't going to be there if you upgrade plans.
adding..download the free voip app TextNow to be able to make free calls to Canada using your local wifi. Most resorts, motels cafes have free wifi now...you might have to ask for their password.
