Student Benefits

Are there any benefits offered by Public Mobile to students?

@JaimyStorm    I don't remember any "Student 30" plan but if that plan costs $30 for 1.5GB+unlimited talk/text, then you should have your friend schedule a plan change (next renewal) to PM's current $30/3GB data + unlimited talk/text at 3G speed.

He should also check out the current line-up for 4G plans which offer some amazing amounts of data at really good prices.

@JaimyStorm

Sorry your friend must be thinking of another carrier. PM doesn’t offer any student, veteran or senior discounts.

Telus offers Senior and Student discounts.

My friend has told me that Public Mobile offers a "Student 30" plan with unlimited talk and text, 1.5GB of data, and a discount for students with proof of enrollment. But I can't find it; maybe it doesn't available now. Internet connection is incredibly important for students, as it provides access to a wealth of information and resources such as https://ca.edubirdie.com/persuasive-essay-writing-service that can help with studying. I think there should be some special plans for students as having a stable and fast Internet connection is essential for us to succeed in our educational pursuits.

Under the Plans tab above, in the 3G categories, it's the cheapest available plan under that.

There are no specific student benefits offered by public mobile but they do give you the opportunity to take advantage of the rewards program to lower your bill. While the points rewards do not directly get applied to your bill like the old $$ rewards program you can get them to pay your phone bill every month if you work at it a little and as a student you have captive audience of your fellow students many of whom are discovering the real cost of their cell phone bill for the first time.

If you joined public mobile after July 13th you are earning 3×back in get back points on your purchases for the first 12 months. If you can afford save up your points for the first year to take advantage of the extra earning potential. When you have a little extra time spend it here in the community asking questions and learning about pm so you can learn not only how to manage your service and account but be able to explain  to your fellow students how it works, the latest promotions and bonus referral credits.

Community rewards will get you started with an hour or two a week earning a point or two a month ($1 to $2) and if you are a quick study and enjoy helping others 5 points ($5) a month can be achieved. If you are earning 5 points then you should be able to start referring new customers by learning which students need to make their dollars stretch. Once you start getting referrals these will collect points every month even better try to refer them during bonus referral promotions so that you get $25 credits ($5×5 months) while you build up your list (points program participants must record and track their referrals on their own or put blind trust in pm to reward points accordingly). Try and aim for 1 referral a month over your first year with public mobile.

Over your first 12 months you can possibly earn:

  • 15pts - Anniversary points (5 welcome points+10 points on your 12 month anniversary)
  • 27pts - 3×Get back points (2.25 points based on the $15 plan)
  • 30pts - Give back (Community) points (1pt×3 months+2pts×6 months+5pts×3 months)
  • 88pts - Refer-a-friend points (1 new referral per month for 12 months)
  • 145pts after 12 months (145 pts÷15=9/$15 bill credits+10pts leftover....almost a free year!) With no new referrals the second year would earn 12pts×12months=144pts+10pts (leftover)+10pts (anniversary)=164pts - 45pts (last 3 months using bill $15 credits)=119points+community points?

Just 3 more referrals and the $15 plan is free and any other points earned are a bonus!

@Abta

There was a back to school special but the 15gb for $40 is a good deal.

If you connect to free wifi at school and home…you could get away with the $15 plan.

@Abta No special offers for students, but the $15/$25 plan is good for savings.

@Abta   Nothing targeted to students specifically and, generally speaking, any PM promo offers are available to all new activations (even if marketed for students) or, occasionally, for existing customers as well like the $40/15GB plan that is currently available to existing and new customers.

PM also offers new customers 5% back in points rewards for bill payments and add-on purchases which can be redeemed after accumulating 15 points ($15) to be used towards account renewal.
