Static When Calling US Numbers from Canada – Incoming Calls Fine

Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this issue. I’m based in Canada, and recently I’ve noticed that when I try to call US numbers (both mobile and landline), the call doesn’t go through properly.
Each time, I encounter one of 2 scenarios. Either:
- All I hear is static. The other person doesn't hear static but can’t hear me either.
- Or there is just absolute silence for both myself and the other person.
What’s strange is that I have no problem receiving calls from the US from all these same folks—those calls come through loud and clear without any issues.
When I click into my current plan details, I see I do have: "Unlimited Canada-US wide minutes and messaging plus unlimited international text and picture messaging++"
Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, were you able to find a solution or workaround? I’d really appreciate any insights or advice on how to fix this—it’s been pretty frustrating since I have a bunch of important calls coming up.
Thank you in advance!

Haha, see? I’m so glad I asked! I was over here confidently toggling those buttons thinking, “maybe this is it?” 😅
Alright, I’ll try calling again tomorrow and see if the issue is now resolved. If not, maybe it’s the universe’s way of telling me it’s time to invest in a new phone... haha.
Thanks again!

hi @WindyOrbits
no, not just toggle airplane mode
To reset network settings on your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [Device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will erase saved Wi-Fi passwords, cellular settings, and VPN/APN settings, forcing you to reconnect to networks and reconfigure cellular data.
To reset network settings on your Android phone, go to Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options > Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth and then tap "Reset settings".

@lifeincluded and @hTideGnow Sounds good—thank you so much for the suggestions!
I’ll give it a try tomorrow and report back with an update.
This might be a silly question, but humor me for a second (I am asking because I really don't want to make things worse by toggling the wrong things)—when you say to reset the network settings, do you mean just toggling everything off and back on again (like airplane mode, data, preferred network, etc.), or is there a specific “reset network settings” option I should look for?
Also, I totally forgot to mention this in my original post—the folks I’m trying to desperately call? I can text them just fine with no issues at all. Would that still point to a connection issue, or does that sound more like it might be something with my phone?
Appreciate the help—thanks again!
