I've just switched my phone from Speakout (Rogers) to P.M. and ported the number.
When I call my P.M cell phone from my home IP phone, it takes 45 seconds to start ringing - never experienced something like this.
When I call my other cell on Rogers network, it takes 15 sec to start ringing (tolerable).
Switched from LTE to 3G - no difference.
Any idea what the problem is?

glad it works out. Yes, it's a routing issue. I am surprise too. Usually it's not connecting at all.. never see it after 45 seconds (or maybe no one will wait that long to find out 🙂 )

@psupreme Thats for the follow-up update... Never heard of this behaviour before, but now we know if someone else on the forums mentions similar symptoms! 👍

Today, 24hrs after the number port, I restarted my phone and everything was back to normal (up to 10sec to start ringing).
Thank you for replying.

@psupreme P.M. is owned by Telus, not Bell...
Yes hopefully resolves soon. Does the calling line hear silence or a ringing sound in that 45 second waiting period?
Toggle airplane mode, and restart the phone occasionally to refresh the mobile network connection.
For comparison, If I call my P.M. phone from my voip line (VoIP.MS using a Grandstream ATA) the mobile starts ringing at 8-10 seconds after I enter the last digit...

It is some weird combination of my VoIP service and Bell/Telus network.
VoIP to P.M. (Bell) - 45 sec
VoIP to Speakout (Rogers) - 15 sec
Speakout (Rogers) to P.M. (Bell) - 10 sec
Because the number has been ported, it could be some weird routing problem. I hope if will get corrected in the next couple of days.
Also 3G or LTE, no difference.

@psupreme What is your "home IP phone"? If its a VoIP ATA like a linksys spa or a grandstream HTxxx, or even a " wireless home phone" using a ZTE 7xx device, they can complete dialing faster by pressing # after the 10 digits - otherwise there is a 2-4 second lag while it "waits" for more digits...
Another thing to try is forcing your Public Mobile phone to 3G mode (aka WCDMA/HSPA) and disabling LTE... With Public Mobile calls must temporarily shift down to 3G for calls - if your phone is already in 3G mode, it might start ringing sooner.
Maybe some things to try to see if it speeds things up.

45 seconds is definitely too long. I would wait a few days after porting and try again. Maybe there are some routes that need to be updated among carriers.

This can depend largely on the receiving carrier. There was a time that calling people using some carriers would cause you to hear an ring immediately, even before the other phone has started rining. Calling people at some carriers only results in a ring after that person's network finds that device. This means that if you call some who is travelling underground at a subway train at that moment, you could possibly get an extended period of blank air before hearing any ringing or being sent to voicemail.

@psupreme How long you have ported the line? Just today?
Did you try to call yourself from another phone line, another cellular phone and another provider? do you get similar result?
It is actually possible that the network take time to get to your "new home" after porting. I suggest to wait for another 2 or 3 days until it is settled. If it is still like that, open a ticket from Mod.
