I tried to insert my sim card into iPhone 12 but it doesn't work and the phone says it's because the card provider doesn't support the phone. How can I fix this?
Thank you!

You might have luck with Samsung Canada as far as unlocking.
If not, check network connections for recent mobile carriers and contact that carrier to request device be unlocked.

I searched it online and the IMEI number shows it's fine, only thing that the carrier lock said SIM locked. Not sure how to deal with this.

The sim card's working fine on my phone now which is Samsung s8, I got this phone on marketplace but it's brand new and it's in Canada

I am assuming you went through the 4 step activation process already?

The iPhone 12 is a newer phone should be unlocked so if you purchased it from a Canadian reputable retailer.
To double check go to Setting>About>Carrier Lock>It should show No SIM Restrictions.
But if it was purchased from a private seller, it could be Blacklisted as it was a lost or stolen phone.

Understand iPhone 12 supposed to be unlocked in Canada, but if OP got it from elsewhere, it could still be locked
An iPhone usually says a SIM is not supported if the iPhone is locked to a carrier. This usually means you can’t insert a SIM card from a different carrier
Of course, if the SIM is an unactivated one, then that could be the reason, too

@sandyv67 if the SIM card is not activated yet, you can do that here: https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/portal/activation

@sandyv67 iPhone 12 would be unlocked. Have you done all the updates the phone needs including IOS update?
Did you buy second hand?
Go to devicecheck.ca to confirm the phone is not blacklisted.

If you have access to one, try someone else's SIM card (that you know is working) in the iPhone 12 you have.
This will let you know whether it's a device or service issue.
Also, check device checker here:

See what settings - general - about gets you.

Hi @sandyv67 You just got this iPhone 12 new? It sounds like carrier locked. Where did you get the phone from? Any other sim works on this phone? or it is new to you and you don't have any SIM working on this phone?
