Should SIM/phone be able to show PM network before SIM activation? & IMEI not found in search .

Helllo PM,

Should SIM/phone be able to show PM network before SIM activation?

My phone does not show/connect to the PM or TELUS network with the PM SIM installed. It shows an x instead of bars for network strength. It does say emergency calls. Does this mean the SIM/Phone are not able to access PM network?

Also I searched my IMEI number on the PM website to make sure it was compatible with PM. It said it was accepted and ok to use on PM. After inserting the PM sim card and noticed my phone was not showing a signal to the network, I decided to check my IMEI again and it now says it cannot find it. I did at one point before searching the IMEI again try to register the SIM and filled in all the info just before the payment field and it timed out and now I have to do it all over again. I am wondering if in doing the check during the activation proccess to make sure my phone's IMEI number was able to be transfered to PM that it somehow now did something to the IMEI search results. My phone is unlocked and shows Telus, Bell and Rogers networks as options to join network if that helps. My contract also ended with my provider since I checked the IMEI number on the PM website, when it said it was ok for use on PM.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi @zip. What was the problem after all?

A SIM inserted into a compatible unlocked phone gives the message "No Service". Perhaps your phone is still locked; where did you buy it?

What is make & model of your phone? This is another way to check your phone: http://willmyphonework.net. However, both it and PM's IMEI checker have been know to give incorrect information.

There is also more info here: How do I know if my phone will work on the Public Mobile network?
