Hi, I'm on vacation to my home country and my phone broke. While I was looking to buy a new one, I stumbled upon the Samsung Galaxy M30s. When I check for compatibility on the PM site, it seems it is compatible. Not sure if there is anything different in Indian version which will make it incompatible.
Im wondering if anyone knows if I will be able to use this phone with PM. Here is the complete specs:
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_m30s-9818.php
Another one which I liked is Samsung Galaxy A30s, if M30 seems incompatible.
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_a30s-9796.php
Thanks

@shgagnej Take a look at the Umidigi F2 it offers great coverage (Globally)
Or the same brand's A5 Pro, which, IIRC, has LOTS of bands. Whether they have a model specific to India, or not, is another matter, but the "Global" version of the phone, which some folks here have, seems to be well liked.

@shgagnej LTE bands are useful, but not essential for service on PM. On the other hand, 3G bands ARE essential (850/1900) because calling ONLY works on the 3 G bands. Data will work on LTE or 3G.

Well, good on ya for coming here for some info BEFORE buying the phone - at least that way you can hopefully avoid wasting money on something with limited compatibility! 👍

@shgagnej B4 is very important if you find a phone that has it it will more than likely be a good fit.

@CannonFodder Thanks. Found out the name of the Indian version : SM-M307F/DS.
And website you mentioned shows it is compatible. But it does have letter F at the end in model name!

M30 supports the following frequencies
3G bands | HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 |
4G bands | LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 20(800), 38(2600), 40(2300), 41(2500) |
M30 will supports PM 3G signals. It only supports LTE band 5(850) signal.
M30 will work with PM. It may not get all LTE signals depending on your location.

shgagnejj You need to be carefull with Indian phones. For it to work properly it needs to support the following bands:
3G:B2 andB5
LTE/4G:B2,B4,B5,B7,B12 andB13.
Rule of thumb: If the phone does not have LTE/4G B4 and B7 avoid!!

As was pointed out to me recently, and I also found out for myself, what with the incorrect information that site provided, the site below is actually much better, and I've found it's also easier to navigate, and allows easy selection of the different variants of many phones. In this case, it could be especially helpful if @shgagnej can find out which variant(very specific model number, other than JUST "M30") that Indian model is.
Aaaaand, after just looking at that site myself, and inputting each of the 4 variants of the M30, it appears that the versions with the "F" at the end of the model name would be the least likely to work well.

I would see no reason why both of the phones would not be compatible. I use a Samsung Galaxy A8, which is the older model in the line, and it works fine.
As long as the new phone that you're getting isn't locked to another network, but even so it would be an easy fix to unlock.
