SMS not working

I migrated from virgin mobile and am using e-sim. The transfer was successful and I am able to use phone for calls and data, however, I am not able to receive any text messages. Due to this, I am not even able to confirm full access to my public account since it is looking to send the OTP to confirm full access. Please advise.

Repeat activation will not help in this situation.

You can also try rebooting your phone.  Network reset of phone (this will erase any saved Wifi passwords).

@Ansk

if you can receive incoming calls, the porting was completed.  You can also put in your old provider sim card in a phone to confirm. The old sim should not be funnctioning (ie, you cannot make and receive calls using the old provider sim card)

for regular sms (p2p), you sure you are not talking about iMessage but actual SMS?  And for A2P, again, it can take 3 to 7 days

Are you on Android?  If so, I suggest you to download Google Message and use it as the default message app and see if it works

If on iPhone, make sure OS is updated, and download the latest Carrier profile

 @softech - I ported on 28th aug. I am able to receive calls but not SMS (p2p) as well as (A2P). Is there a way I can redo activation? when I activated e-sim, the process seemed to complete well without any hiccups and calls started coming right after and I know it is using public mobile network since it is using e-sim and there is no physical sim card in the phone.

First, do you receive any incoming calls and regular SMS (P2P) from friends?  If so, it is good, at least the porting was completed successfully

For 2FA text or other system generated text (A2P), it is normal for them to start coming later.   Systems take longer to find out you changed provider and to route the text correctly to the new provider (Public Mobile).    Also, financial institutions (banks) or government agencies (e.g, CRA)  put this delay on purpose too to avoid SIM Fraud

Usually they will start coming around the 3rd day after porting but it could take as many as 7 days for all the 2FA/A2P text to come.
