We think it might be related to the default selections for RCS messaging. We turned off end to end RCS encryption and SMS works.

We turned off iMessages to simplify the troubleshoot. SMS doesn’t work.

Thanks for all the help everybody this has been an interesting troubleshoot. I can simplify the problem, SMS does not work on our iPhones. however if we send an SMS without encryption, it goes through. So the problem seems to be the encryption. Sending with encryption (the default) we get an error: not sent.

I am on iPhone. Followed your instructions until “remove my number”. That doesn’t seem possible. When I remove and save it. It reappears. As if a blank number is not permitted.

Texting is the last function when porting over to any carrier. It may take up to 2 - 3 hours to complete.
This was an issue when my friend ported over from Rogers over to Koodo. The staff at Koodo informed my friend about the texting.

hi @FreddyHaze
Android or iPhone?
first, make sure the old carrier (Rogers ) sim card is removed, if esim, disable it. So, Public Mobile sim should be the only one left
if you have an iPhone, you can:
Go to Settings on your phone, Then to Messages/FaceTime, Switch iMessage/FaceTime OFF
And go to Settings, then Phone and then My Number to remove the phone number
Wait 5 minutes and reboot the phone
Then go to Settings, Phone, My number and put the number back
And go to Settings, Message/FaceTime and turn iMessages/FacekTime back ON again
Wait for it to finish activating in iMessage
But if yours is an Android:
uninstall Google Message
Reboot phone and reinstall (or update) the Google Message from Play Store.
You might also want to go to Google Message Settings menu and make sure RCS is enable and registered

@FreddyHaze , check your default messaging protocol, make sure it is not set to iMessages. Non iPhone users cannot communicate via iMessages.
