Hola!
My girlfriends phone is from Mexico and uses a Mexican phone number. She is currently staying in Canada. She is paying too much a month for her phone right now. Her phone is unlocked. Will a PM SIM card work with her phone and will she be able to keep her current phone number? She does use Whattsapp to keep in touch with her family and friends back home (phone calls and video calls)
Any help or suggestions would be welcome.
Gracias!

She'd need a new Canadian number, but yes she should be able to use a PM SIM. Just make sure she doesn't delete Whatsapp, and then she'll be fine using it with her old phone number. But texting and phone calls will be on the new Canadian number.

What kind of phone does your girlfriend have?
If it’s unlocked and is a newer phone there is a good chance it would be supported by PM.
However I don’t believe you’d be able to port her Mexico phone number to PM. There is a possibility of her being able to port it to a VoIP provider as their service is provided through the internet but most regular cellular carriers won’t be able to port international phone numbers.
But if she is continuing to use WhatsApp to keep in touch with her friends and family back home she will be able to continue doing so even if she gets a number from PM. It’ll work exactly the same way as WhatsApp only uses data or WiFi.

Most modern smart phones are compatible with PM. Check here:

She can stick any SIM into her phone and will NOT lose her original Mexico number/service (unless she stops paying for it).
