Roaming carrier

I'm in Miami and my phone won't connect to any of the US carriers so I cannot make any calls.

To make calls or text, you need to purchase a USA Roaming Add-on. The price is $15 for 15 days. Just login to your account and go to the Plan & Add-on section to make you purchase.

If you have made your purchase, once you are in the USA, connect manually to T-Mobile for service.

You can also use WhatsApp or TextNow through wifi for free calling & texting if you have these apps installed on your phone.

@Panacat

When did you purchase the US Roaming add on? Where in Miami are you? The coverage in Miami for the 2G network is not great. It's mostly concentrated in the "downtown" area, the southern third of Miami Beach below Ventura and along the Dolphin Expressway and Biscayne Boulevard. The rest of Miami is pretty devoid of 2G network access.

Check the cell mapper link in the update of this thread.

if you have access to wifi...consider downloading free app such as Textnow. With that app, you'll select your free Cdn number, you'll be able to make free calls, receive call, send and receive texts....for free using your wifi.

Alternative is to get a local sim and a cheap US plan. Walmart in Miami would be a place to look.

The PM roaming add-on is problematic for talk in US. Texting should be ok though. Just make sure you manually select T-Mobile as the preferred network.

make sure to enable Roaming in the phones settings.

First of all - did you purchase PM US add-on (talk/SMS/data)?

According to Public Mobile:

PM will have T-mobile 2G network for US talk. Try to manually connect to T-mobile.

Roaming is for Data only. Voice and SMS text will still work.

Data will work on LTE, but will switch over to 2G to make a call.

However, the quality of service will vary depending on the different coverage areas when roaming in the USA.

@Panacat  - did you purchase a USA Roaming ADDon and is your public mobile plan active?

If yes to both, try restarting your phone, or manually choosing t-mobile.

Does T-Mobile show up in the list of carriers? If not then it would seem you're outside of their coverage area where you are. They are the only carrier we can connect to.
