I was already nervous about bringing my business to Public Mobile because of the lack of available customer support. If it turns out my device isn't good enough to maintain reliable service on the PM network long-term, I'll take my business to a non-partner company and NEVER come back. Can anyone provide clarity on this overall situation?
Here is part of the text message I received from PM yesterday:
"...We are making upgrades to our network that may impact your connectivity with Public Mobile. After June 3rd, your device may lose or experience a degraded connection..."

It doesn’t which carrier you are going with. All Canadian carriers will be decommissioning 3G within a year or two.
If you have an older phones that doesn’t have VoLTE then you may look at getting a new phone in the future.
With Trump’s traffic on cellular manufacturers on cell phones. Prices will go up.

hi @DarrylMO
what phone do you have? is that Android? What model?
This is the background to the network change that affected you

basically, Telus is refarming all of their 850 to 10 MHz LTE B5 in their markets, mainly BC, AB, Windsor, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City. Bell has not done this, so it won't affect area that has Bell networks which Telus/PM use
So, it might affect voice calls for phones that has only 850 Band 5 on the phone but lack 1900 Mhz, those phone people bought in other country. That's why your iPhone , Pixel are working but not Vivo. Vivo is not designed for North American and not have all the required 3G bands

Telus is refarming the 850 Mhz 3G to LTE. Public mobile has determined via bounce back tests that your phone may have issues with this network change.

Which phone are you using? If your phone is VoLTE compatible with Public mobile, these phones will not have issues with this network change.
Might want to wait until the date mentioned on the text and see what happens. If you are having talk issues, then you may need to upgrade your phone. Here is a list of VoLTE compatible phones for PM network:

Oh. This just means that Public Mobile, like every other provider in Canada, are slowly moving away from the 3G network. This is nothing new. Depending on what phone you have, you may just need to upgrade the phone.
Older phones that work primarily on 3G will have issues. Here is, a somewhat outdated list, of what phones you can use on Public Mobile.
