Re-setting phone E-Sim question.

What happens if you have an E-Sim account and decide to format / reset your phone? With hard sim I periodically hard reset my phone for security reasons and to just re-set my phone deleting apps that may be working in the background etc.

@maple_leaf ,

I’m sorry! 😞 I hope it wasn’t my fault by replying to it! I appreciate that you went into detail though! I finally found it on google search then it sent me to Apple website to show me instructions & pictures! I saved it. I personally can’t risk losing the eSIM that I paid for 😞 so I appreciate that people took the time to verify that this can be done & explain it! I didn’t want to have to pay for another eSIM again! I saw another Customer post on here that lost theirs so I panicked!

Thank you @Typhon for asking this question.

Have a good day!

I didn't mean to step on any toes. I spent a considerable amount of time to provide a more detailed solution, of which was in community spirit, to hopefully help the OP @Typhon, and @LitlLdy. @LitlLdy accepted my solution, and @HALIMACS  replied it was already answered/solved at which time @computergeek541  archived my post so that it is no longer visible to the Community. I'm new here, but this seems counterintuitive to me. Is it ego?

I reviewed the post, and agree that there are detailed instructions and restored the post.  However, when it comes to actual question asked, the solution was actually provided earlier to use the option to keep the eSIM.

Indeed @maple_leaf , your response was more thought-out and detailed.

My second response was moreso a subtle ‘poke’ to the OP who didn’t seem to recognize my response of almost an hour previously.

It actually caused me to check to see if my initial post might have been relegated to the “unmoderated items” area, and perhaps no longer in the thread.

(iOS)

From discussions.apple.com, "You will not erase your eSIM when selecting 'Erase all and keep mobile plans':

Go to 'Settings' > 'General' > 'Reset' > 'Erase All Content and Settings' > 'Erase iPhone' >'Erase All and Keep Mobile Plans'."

(Android)

From support.google.com:

"When you factory reset, there will be a checkbox at the bottom to erase your eSIM(s).

This checkbox is unchecked by default, so if you leave it unchecked, your eSIM(s) won't be erased when you factory reset."

Hope this helps.

@Typhon , I have been wondering the same thing! I am hoping I never have to but I have had to reset my iPhone to new in the past! 😞 If you need to please update Us on the outcome!

@Typhon

when doing a hard reset, there should be an option provided whether to retain or remove the associated eSIM.
