Hello,
When I register in this plan https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/plans/15for250MB-3Gspeed, will get my unlocked Samsung phone locked with Public mobile/Bell?

Device shouldnt get locked to any carrier in Canada. Thats the Law, if it does get locked call the supposed carrier and ha e them unlock, unlocking should be free.

@Oldman2 No, Public Mobile does not lock phones.

@Oldman2 Some Samsung devices from a few years ago actually are unlocked in the sense that any sim card will iniitially be accepted. However, some of these models will lock themselves to a carrier after turning on the device with the first sim card inserted. The current models don't do this, but some from the past do.

@Oldman2 , SIM lock is done at the factory when phone are produced. Since December 1, 2017 SIM locked phones have been banned in Canada. If a phone is SIM locked to a source carrier, that carrier will provide an unlock code free of charge. Otherwise using a phone on a particular service will not relock the phone to that service. Some brands such as LG require network resets when switching from one brand to another. This is different from SIM lock and something the customer can do on their own through setting menu.

@Oldman2 Public mobile doesn't lock your phone, you only need a compatible unlocked phone in order to activate your account here.

@Oldman2 ask Bell to unlock the phone for you. Or since its a Samsung, you can contact Samsung online and ask them to unlock it for you. Either way you will need your imei number dial dial *#06# to get it. Welcome to PM. Stay safe.
