Public mobile customer transferring phone to new public mobile customer

I am a current public mobile customer and I have given my iPhone 5s to my Mother. I have set up a public mobile account for her and obtained a PM SIM card and set up an account for her. I receive a “sim not supported “ message saying Public Mobile is not a supported carrier. Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

Have you tried the lost/stolen phone trick or adding a $1 to your account? Sometimes this sort of jumpstarts the service into working.

For the lost/stolen phone trick you login to the self serve area and report the phone as lost/stolen. Turn the phone off. Wait 10 minutes. Report the phone as found and then turn the phone back on again.

If this doesn't work you can make a payment to the account of $1.

Public mobile is the last carrier.

Thanks for your rapid responses.

Public Mobile is the last phone carrier.

I have powered the phone off and on again.

Still get sim not supported message.

It sounds like you need to unlock the phone. You can do this for free by contacting the last service provider the phone was under.

I read this as the phone had been being used on Public Mobile. Perhaps the OP can clarify.

Did you power on and off and re-insert the Sim card ?
