Public Mobile text messaging no longer able to send Pictures or Videos

JennalynnFlesch

My text messaging on my Galaxy S7 Edge no longer works to send pictures or videos via text with Public Mobile. Has anyone else had this happen?

Can they just stop supporting our handsets like that when we pay for the service?

Please advise if anyone has had this happen or has any info on legality regarding if it is lawful to charge for a service and not provide it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey! So I just went through the exact same issue as you on my Galaxy S6. Many tickets later and a solution was found: after changing all the other access point settings to what they recommended, in the end it was changing the APN to all capital letters. That did it. Maybe this could work for your S7 Edge as well...

So in our case the full settings will be:
Name: Public Mobile
APN: SP.MB.COM
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMS proxy: mmsproxy.mobility.ca
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
every other setting was just left as per the default

Let me know if this solves your issue!

Thank you so much for the info!  PM agent did have me do this for my handset, but of course it isn't helping. They have changed their network and it is breaking MMS service to legacy phones.  I have begun a complaint with CCTS which has been accepted.  I can only hope that all legacy handset owners also file complaints and get them to fix what they are breaking.

@JennalynnFlesch

S7 was released on 2017 and could be affected by this change:

Here is the background information regarding the text you got:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Picture-and-Group-Messaging-End-Date-Fe...

There is a slight chance you can still get it to work.  Try to click Reset All networks or Reset network settings to get the latest APN

Also, you can make a manual update, here are the old and new settings

Old settings:

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: 74.49.0.18
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms
                             or        default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri

New Settings:

APN: sp.mb.com
MMSC: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc
MMSC proxy: mmscproxy.mobility.ca
MMS port: 8799
MCC: 302
MNC: 220
APN Type: default,supl,mms
                             or             default,mms,agps,supl,fota,hipri
