So I just payed off my cellphone bill on August 15, I got a new subscription from you guys on August 17, you guys charged me the whole amount of a new month, that should be prorated, not a whole new month of charges.

@Cam1945 can you explain what happened between August 15th and 17th? Why you paid on 15th and got a new subscription on 17th?  Did you change plan using Change Now option?  If it is, then you chose the wrong choice, should have used Change on Renewal.  But there is still a slim chance PM can roll back to the old plan and let you choose Change in Renewal to have the new plan later

Open ticket with PM and ask

And that's whats wrong with companies that are all greed and no care for there customers, w.e I'm out 30$, I'll still be a customer because it's a pain to change carriers, but don't expect much from me if you can't do anything for me,

hi @computergeek541

i remember an old member used to compare prepaid with vending machine.  And you bought the can of coke, you cannot ask for refund if you opened it for a sip of it. LoL

That's true, it's just a simplification of the general custom between most prepaid and postpaid plans in Canada that the prepaid ones don't offer prorating or automatic refunds.

As Public Mobile is a prepaid carrier they don't prorate or refund if you cancel service or switch plans before the end of your cycle. If you want to change plans without getting charged twice you need to select "Change on Renewal" instead of changing immediately. Doing so will schedule your plan change to occur only once your current cycle is complete.

Being a prepaid carrier in itself isn't the reason that there is no prorating of plan fees when changing plans.  This is purely a business decision by Public Mobile and there's nothing stopping them for doing it if they chose to.  In the past, there have been prepaid carriers who have prorated plan fees.  Wind Mobile did it to the exact day at one point for prepaid plan customers before changing it to prorated plans fees round up to 10 day increments  (and they might even still be doing it current day operating as Freedom Mobile for prepaid plan customers).  Mobilicity in the past actually mailed refunds cheques for customers who cancelled some of the prepaid plans.

hi @Cam1945

PM is prepaid and has a 30 days cycle.  if you joined PM on August 17, your 30 days cycle is Aug 17 to Sept 15 (30 days and not monthly).  There is no prorated charge needed as the end day of the cycle is not last day of the month
