I am trying to port my number to public mobile.
I have the number working but the SMS has still not transferred over.
I can accept phone calls but the SMS still only go to the openphone app.
I can send from the other app but am unable to receive...
Is this a setting on my side?
Open Phone says its a publicmobile issue.

@dust2dust wrote:From what I remember, it used to be inbound calls that are the last to transfer. So it's interesting that you're finding inbound sms not working.
Call this number in the link to see if they have status of the port.

I used to be that way previously, but I did a transfer last month and incoming calls from other Telus customers worked immediately even though porting wasn't complete. This is a security risk. In my opinion, Telus should not be assigning the number until porting is complete (the way that some other carriers do it).

Yes calls in and out.
Yes I can use cell data for the internet.
Calls, SMS in and out work with openphone.
I have a Canadian number 604710
If it takes longer that explains it.

Calls in and out? Using cell data (not wifi) for the internet?
What all of the above still works with openphone?
It very much feels like a failed port. Do you have a Canadian number or is it a US number? ie. what are the first 6 digits (not last 4)? It also looks like a voip service. These usually take longer anyway.

Just to make sure i answered everything:
i am sending sms text message.
no call forwarding setup
cleared cache and reset wifi, internet settings
using google message
is that everything?

But you haven't answered all of the above (yes, some) so that we can think of other suggestions.

Did you set up call forwarding with openphone? If so, can you turn it off @zulup
EDIT, awe, just realized it is probably not a forward issue, since you said you are receiving voice calls on your public SIM card.....
Do you have an iphone? Check if iMessage is turned on for your device, go to Settings > Messages > iMessage.
Also, ensure SMS and MMS is enabled in your settings.

So for here, can you call in and out, use cell data (not wifi), and is that real sms or imessage or chat type "texts"? The fact that your old account still works in some ways suggests maybe the port isn't correct.

i will see if it gets better today and tomorrow.

@zulup wrote:no none are working.
@zulup what phone do you have?
if none are working, start with click Reset All network. (Please note that it will also delete your saved Wifi and Bluetooth connection. But you can easily add them back after)
if you are using Android and it still does not work, try to clear cache for your Message app. Also, if you are using stock message app and not Google Message. Download Google Message, set it as default messaging app and it should help
If you are using iPhone, make sure your Carrier profile is up to date

@zulup - Regular SMS text should work right away. Have you restarted your phone with the public mobile SIM Card inside yet, If not restart it.
Try your SIM card in another phone and see if texts come in.
If still issues, perform a Reset of your device's Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, VPN and APN settings, and connected Bluetooth devices that you've used before.
Iphone: To Reset Network Settings, begin by opening the Settings app. Next, tap General -> Transfer or Reset iPhone -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings. and enter your passcode. Your iPhone will reset network settings and restart itself.
android: Find and tap Settings > System > Advanced > Reset options > Reset network settings.

@zulup So, calls are working but just SMS?
are you waiting for sms from friends or 2FA text from system?
If you are getting friend's text and just not receiving system generated text (like 2FA), then it is normal
For 2FA text or other system generated text (A2P), it is normal for them to start coming later. Systems take longer to find out you changed provider and to route the text correctly to the new provider (Public Mobile). Also, banks put this delay on purpose too to avoid SIM Fraud
Usually they will start coming around the 3rd day but it could take as many as 7 days for all the 2FA/A2P text to come.
