Hi, I have ported my number to Public a few months ago, everything works fine, except that when I send an SMS, people sometimes get my messages from a wrong number that has nothing to do with me. I think it has to do with the number porting process not finalized? I am on Pixel 6A. Help is welcome.

hi @fg123
hung at registering..that happens sometimes
try repeat the same (remove number, reboot, out number back) and should be ok. Or try that in 1 or 2 days

Hi hTideGnow,
good hunch, I am on RCS, I followed advice I read online, saw indeed that a different number was registered for the RCS, I turned RCS off, cleared messaging app cache and history, rebooted.
It now shows the right number and says 'status: setting up, trying to verify your phone number...' It has been 20+ minutes. Do i just need to be patient now?

hi @fg123 just some of your friends and not all?
are you using iMessage or RCS?
try going to the iMessage /RCS settings, remove the phone number first and reboot phone. Put the correct number back after

@fg123 Does you old provides SIM card still work ? If so the port didn’t complete. . If you do t have the SIM card anymore are you able to log into old providers account ? And if so are you still be charged by them ? If so this would be further confirmation the port was unsuccessful. And you will need to contact support to start the porting process over again . Can do this by using the orange chat bubble icon bottom right of screen or send direct message

Are you able to receive calls and texts on the correct phone number?
Check the settings on your phone to see which phone number is registered to your phone.
Might want to try a network reset on your phone also. Note: this will erase any saved Wifi passwords.
