Porting number from Rogers while on a group plan

Hello! I know of someone that is looking into opening a public mobile account. She is currently on a group plan on Rogers with her family members. Will there be any issues with porting her number since she is on a group plan? Are there any specific instructions if it varies from a normal individual plan?

I just ported my number off Fido (part of Rogers ) recently and it's a group plan. No issues at all. It doesn't really matter which plan you were using you can port the number out to public mobile

hi @Saen_OG I did it once also porting a line out of the family account, also from Rogers.  All work smoothly and the other services weren't affected.  No special thing to deal with.

The only concern you have is whether your family plan has any requirements about have enough number of lines to keep the discount

@Saen_OG it's probably safer if she calls Rogers to confirm but there really shouldn't be any restrictions as long as she's not locked on a contract (with a subsidized phone). I was in a group plan at my old company with my wife and when I ported over to Public Mobile I had forgotten about this point but my old company called me to say that my wife was being switched to a individual account. Not sure all companies will do this so doesn't hurt to call them first.

@Saen_OG won't have any issue.  Many tried

There is a box about allow closing the account, you can still check that cut no need to worry, Rogers won't close the account as there are other active lines still

also, make sure you provide account number and not IMEI for quicker porting experience
