Porting PM to PM

I tried to port my number from one PM account to another PM. Is that not allowed?

We were unable to transfer the phone number you entered. Try one of the following options:
-  Make sure you entered your number correctly.
-  Select a new number.
-  Contact the Public Mobile Community for further assistance.

Anyone that can shed some light on this would be great. Thanks

That isn't porting.  Number portability is a process for transfering a phone number from one carrier to another.  Any attempt to port a number in like that will fail because the number is already active on the same carrier.

A Public Mobiile employee could possibly assign one of your phone numbers to the other account but that means that they would likely have to deactive the line that number came from.

As mentioned earlier, to keep both numbers, you would need to port one of the number out to another carrier and then port it back into Public Mobile, but on a brand new account.  Keep in mind that for any number that you port out from Public Mobile, you lose the plan that you already had and would have to start with a new plan that is currently offered.

@will13am both can be saved but that involves getting a 3rd account.

I didn't mention it because the user just mentioned porting one number.

Basically it's something like

a3=a1

A1=a2

A2 = a3

You will be able to keep one number and will lose the other.

I haven't been able to locate the thread.  I recall both can be saved depending on the desired outcome.
