I have a Quebec 514 area code number and have moved to Alberta, I want to keep the same 514 number. I saw some older threads(2019) saying this is not possible, has anything changed since? Thank you!

You can get around this by purchasing Public Mobile payment vouchers from a Gas Station/Shoppers/Grocery store in AB, then only paying GST and no PST. Even if your active PM plan has a Quebec phone number. The QC tax is only applied when PM processes payment directly to your credit card based on your phone number's area code. Local tax is applied whereever the payment vouchers are purchased.

you won't be able to keep the same number but have an AB area code. If you want an AB number, you'll have a rotating selection of local numbers to choose from, when you log in to your Public Mobile account > Account tab > scroll down to Change Phone Number.

Thank you for the quick reply! This was on a thread from here in 2019, saying this condition must be met. I just want to make sure it is no longer true as I cannot afford to lose the 514 number. It said I can only port the number if - "the number your attempting to port in is within the same area code (example: you can't port a Toronto area code # to Vancouver)"

you can keep your current number or change to a new Alberta number. Those are your choices now...you won't be able to keep the same number but with an Alberta area code.
