Port from Shaw Landline

Is it possible to check somewhere to see if my current home number with Shaw is eligible to port over to Public Mobile?  I recently tried to change from a Shaw home phone to their new free mobile plan but they somehow have my home number registered in a town 250 km from my house so they said they can not help me.  I would like to check the number before I go pick up a sim card.

Can't port a number to Public Mobile unless Public has numbers for the same place.

Any CANADIAN number should be portable. How confident do you feel about Shaw’s response about not being portable with what sounds like, to me, a feeble excuse. You would think they would be obliged to keep you happy and would want to keep your business. To have some fun....ask them what is the account information for your Shaw landline as you want to port it out...then see if they have a different reaction. Out if curiosity what city are you in and what city is your number supposedly attached to?

Hi @Tweimann ,

I do not see why you would not be able to.

Check for Telus cell towers in your area to confirm you will have coverage:

https://www.telus.com/en/ns/mobility/network/coverage-map

NOTE: Landlines take a few days to fully port the phone number over. In some cases up to 7 (but I think normally 3-4).

Keep your Shaw landline open (if you close it before the port is complete, you may lose that phone number in the cell phone pool).

When you port your home phone number over to Public Mobile through the activation process, the Shaw account will automatically close when the port is complete.

@Tweimann send a private message to the Moderators by clicking here. You’ll need to be logged in to your Community account for the link to work. Ask them if your number is eligible to port.

- Check your private message sent box (click on the envelope top right of your screen) to make sure the message was sent.

- Keep an eye on the envelope top right of your screen.  The mods answer will show up there.  When it does, you will be asked to verify your self service account, with your password and login. Doing so allows the process to continue. Stay safe.

Don't see why it wouldn't qualify to port to PM...check with Shaw Customer support though.
