Does anyone have a Pixel 7 working fine with Public Mobile? Any tips for me?
My Pixel 7 has like a 30% rate of being able to dial-out and likewise same rate for receiving calls. When I try to dial out, it takes approx 10-15 secs for the dial-out ringing to occur. I tried buying a new Public Mobile sim card and trying it with that--no difference. Data connection is fine.
When I put my Public Mobile sim into my old phone, there are no issues. It works as normal. Also, when I put my work phone's sim (Telus)--again no issues. Works as normal.
So it seems like my issue with my Pixel 7 is specifically with Public Mobile.
Anyone got any experience with troubleshooting this?
Thanks.

@softech Yes, I will get a full refund. Bought my old pixel 7 from Google directly during Black Friday and their return window is until mid Jan for a full refund.
Bought my new pixel 7 at Best Buy during their boxing day sale (same price as Google's black friday pricing) so it'll end up that I don't lose money due to this issue. (Aside from buying a new Public Mobile sim card because I even suspected it was a sim card issue!) Thanks again for your help.

@jmin50000 glad you have a nice new Pixel and working well
Just curious, you said old pixel back to Google, and you got the refund/exchange without lossing money?

Thanks everyone for your help--especially that data point that Public Mobile voice calls are routed through 3g. I think it ended as an issue with my specific phone's ability to connect to 3g networks--faulty hardware likely, but maybe software.
I ended up buying another new pixel 7 and running all the updates, then factory resetting--then trying out my public mobile sim. Calls work just fine on this new pixel 7. So will keep this new one and return my old pixel 7 back to google.
Thanks again everyone!
P.S. Google support said this is a known issue with the pixel 7 which they hope they could fix with an update so it may be affecting others with pixel 7s. But I think it could be hardware--just glad it's resolved now.

@jmin50000 Since the phone has to drop to 3G mode to make or receive a call, if it happens to take too long to perform this switch when making or receiving a call, this could time out and the call could fail.
I'd suggest testing forcing your phone to 3G only mode if possible, to see if the phone is already on 3G when the call comes in if you have a higher success rate, or faster call setup.

With the exception of possible Winnipeg and Brandon, 3G is equal to or better than 4G/LTE coverage. When I make calls it is definitely not an instantaneous connection. I don't count how long nor does it bother me if it is an extra second or two. If I had to guess, it would be about 5 seconds or so before the ringing starts. The transition to the 3G network is pretty quick.

Did you try your PM sim in another phone and see significant improvement?
If you don't have another phone to test, try the phone in different area to see if your voice is less an issue elsewhere
Also, which city or province you are at?
I doubt it has anything to do with preferred network type. The entire family have 5G capable devices set to 5G preferred. I also have VoLTE enabled. It does not matter, phone drops to 3G when there is a call.

@jmin50000 , what phone were you using previously and was there any such issues? The first thing that comes to mind is maybe the phone is faulty.
