Will my phone plan be shut off if I am out of the country for 6 months. I do not want to shut the phone off as I will be using it full time in the United States

for best talkability using Public Mobile while in USA, make sure you have a VoLTE enabled cellphone that Public Mobile has recognized as VoLTE compliant. Without that, you won't be able to make calls whilst in USA. Here's some light reading, clipped from Help Files...

you will be in US and want to keep using PM services there?  Make sure you a Canada/US or Canada/US/Mexico plan and your will be able to use the service in US like you are at home.  Make sure Roaming Mobile Data is on and make sure your phone is connected to one of the US Networks: T-Mobile/AT&T/Version

If you keep paying, it keeps going. I haven't heard about any issues with longer term usage out of country. Some other providers do have rules about substantial usage being roaming though. If you don't already, may want to look into switching to a plan that includes US roaming. But note that you'll probably have difficulty downgrading plans later or returning to a previous plan.
