Hi there,
My son is going to be leaving the country for 2 years, and we don't want him to lose his number.
Is there a way we can park it with public mobile until he gets back?
Thanks

Porting a number then porting back/somewhere else also add costs to be taken into consideration 😁 since porting out will lose existing rewards status might as well shop for a new plan somewhere.

You could port the number out to voip.ms. If it just sat probably would cost $2-$3 a month. But could use it too using a compatible app. Of course would lose the PM plan, rewards, etc.
Take a look around. https://voip.ms/residential/products/voip-phone-service

So the final cost for parking a number plus 3 months of service/year at the minimum $15 plan is:
$15*3 - ($10 + 0.75*3) =~ $32.75 + taxes
Average to less than $3/monthly, that is if you can perfectly hit repayment at 90th day
I'll just need to be extra careful to make payment to not spill over 90 days.

As per @dust2dust 's description of suspending for 88/89 days (accounts are cancelled/deactivated after 90 days without paid service) and paying to reactivate for 30 days and repeating....will cost before factoring in rewards approximately $45/354-357 days (almost a year).
If the account is on the old rewards program the cost will be reduced by the amount of monthly rewards ×3 (ie. $2 autopay+$1 loyalty=$3×3=$9/$45-$9=$36/year).
If the account is on the points rewards then the cost can be reduced by redeeming points for $15 bill credits. For a new account on the $15 plan the points rewarded are as follows:
The fourth reactivation can be done by redeeming a $15 bill credit but no get back points will be earned on the payment. The second year will accumulate the following points.....
The first year with a points rewards account would cost $45-$15 bill credit redemption=$30. The second year will cost approximately the same plus at least one extra plan amount payment ($25) to redeem a second $15 bill credit.
$$ rewards accounts would be a minimum $45-$9=$36 per year depending on the loyalty reward amount. Loyalty reward increases are delayed when suspending for more than 60 days.
