I’ve had a phone number through public for years, my account has been inactive for months and I’ve lost my SIM card. I have a new phone and eSIM but cannot get my old phone number back. Is there anyway to do that

When did you last use the number? Have you tried calling it to see if anyone else has it already?

Yes I’ve sent and should be getting an email back soon. Hopefully. Thank you!

@Brenden14 probably yes, but doesn't cost you anything to reach out to an agent to see if there is anything that can be done.

I got the phone number from public in 2019. When I punch in the number is says it’s an invalid phone number. If I try calling it says it’s inactive. I guess I’ve lost my shot?

@Brenden14 no, after 90 days the number gets returned to the originating cell company that first gave it to you and then it gets added back into the pool for a new customer

@Brenden14 number porting can only be done from an active account, this is not specific to Public Mobile but for any cell company. The only hope you would have for getting the number back is if the number originated from a Telus company (Telus/Koodo/Public Mobile), and you are transferring to one of these companies now. If not, it's pretty much gone for good.

I cannot get it back if it’s been after 90days?

Hello @Brenden14
If it has been more than 90 days, the number is now gone. If it's been less than 89 days, you can reach out to a CS agent and see if it's still available.
