No singal in Hong Kong

Hi, I'm travelling in Hong Kong and have turned on the line. But I do not receive any calls or text messages. Could you help to troubleshoot?

You cannot use PM when travelling. Roaming with PM only works in the USA with the proper plan or add-on.

Whilst travelling unless you have Wi-Fi, you won't be able to do much with your phone. If you are going to places without Wi-Fi, and need to use your phone, then your options are limited to:

1) Replace your physical PM SIM with a physical local HK SIM.

2) Getting a local SIM if your phone support dual SIMs. You won't be able to use the PM number whilst in HK or send/receive SMS through that number, but you will be able to use the HK SIM/eSIM one. Be aware that unless your phone is capable of two physical SIMs, if your phone currently has a physical SIM for your PM number, you can only get a local HK eSIM. If your PM is on an eSIM, then you can either get a physical local HK SIM or eSIM. Note that prepaid local eSIM, especially for data-only use whilst travelling, are not something frequent. You might find more physical SIMs for local prepaid data-only service. You might want to switch your PM to an eSIM before going to HK if you intend on buying a local physical SIM.

3) Getting an eSIM beforehand: Your phone MUST support dual SIMs. You won't be able to use the PM number or send/receive SMS through that number whilst in HK, but you will be able to use the HK eSIM. Whether you use a physical SIM or eSIM for your PM number, you can get an eSIM BEFORE going to HK. You can use services like SimOptions (https://www.simoptions.com/), Airalo (https://www.airalo.com/) or Holafly (https://esim.holafly.com/). You pick a plan, activate it, and use it as soon as you land.

Please refer to your phone's manufacturer manual on how to use your dual SIM.

@Avv01186  - Public Mobile has no roaming in Hong Kong, only in the United States of America. For texts and calls, use a VoIP Provider like Fongo or Text Now, they will provide. you with a number to call and text others. For data and when you are outside wifi and need to call a person, choose an eSIM app like Airalo. If you are unsure if your phone has eSIM support, try buying a prepaid data SIM card from a local convenience store or supermarket.

Public Mobile only works in Canada and the United States. You are unable to bring your phone to other countries like China to use your phone. Hence the reason why the prices are so low here. Roaming isn't an option here. You will need to purchase a SIM card from Hong Kong to be able to use your phone. Or you can download TextNow and pick a local number where you're from in Canada to be able to call back to Canada free using WiFi. But the trick is, you'd need a VPN with a Canadian IP to download the app. Hope this helps.

Hate to break this to you but Public Mobile is a North America-only wireless service. You can buy add-ons for the United States, but nothing whatsoever for Europe or Asia.

Unfortunately, PM LD calling is only available while in Canada.

You can use WhatsApp or TextNow app won wifi for free calling and texting or purchase a local SIM in HK.
