So I wanted to get $30 deal. I saw tweet that first month is free and sim is free as well if we activate in store. I went to two WOW mobile locations( Bramalea city center and shoppers world) both locations denied activating it. They said they can't do anything and I would have to activate it myself. So just wanted to know why free sim is being offered when retailers can't even help me. They said they have no system to activate a sim. I couldn't find any other retailer.

Wish I was a retailor. I'd go online help the people sign the people up and put in my # as the referral. 😃

By the way, my wife DID get the one month service credit on her account today. We had signed her up online.
I incorrectly thought you couldn't get a referral reward, plus the person you referred get a month credit also....
So it was just the 'free SIM' that we didn't end up getting.... no big deal, gas to drive to a WalMart would have been $5.00 anyway....
I would be inclined to sign up and activate a SIM by April 2 in order to get the free month service credit and if you also happened to be choosing the $30 promo for in-province calling + 1 GB 3G, that would certainly be a very good idea. This is a really good promo for lite data users I reckon.
The price works out to $27.08 per month over a full 72 months (plus applicable tax) assuming you have autopay enabled. That's 72 X $30 less $30, and then less $12, $24, $36, $48 and finally less another $60 in loyalty rewards. And you end up with a plan that is $25 plus tax after the 5th year.

I kinda get why PM wants to have somewhere you can buy a SIM in person, but it did seem strange to me to see an 'activate in store' promo..... I just activated my wife's plan today ONLINE, and can't be too concerned with passing up $30 of credit.... She's saving about $30 a month compared to Rogers, and no, the service is not at all poor.... you just get less (customer service) for less... lol
Everything has worked great for me online

Those rumors and lies still going around disturbs me. PM has same service as Bell and Telus which I'm sure the would sell you on having great service any day of the week. Show them the ad here on the PM forum, they may need to call their manager so they can be instructed how to do it.

The only solution is to report the retailers that are not playing nice to the moderator team and seek advice on a way forward. Hopefully they won't suggest you go out and butt heads further with non cooperating retailers.

@Sheena32002, point of clarification. The second month is free, not the first. The free month is by way of a bill credit. The SIM card is issued free when activating at a partner retailer. See this announcement for the details.

@Sheena32002 Try at Walmart. They will activate it. if not, send a private message to the Moderator_Team and they might have a way to solve this issue since no retailer in your are wants to give you the sim for free.
