New activation, but odd sms message

Hi,

I just ported over from Koodo. In the process it texted me a message saying I set my pin, and to not forget it. I never set one up.

From what I understand, I have set up a voice mail password, an alphanumeric for my login account to public. I don't know what this pin is referring to. No where in the app does it mention a PIN term. Can anyone shed some light please.

Everything is working, just concerned about some default pin set to something it shouldn't be for security.

Thank you Paul215, you are most excellent. I'm glad I made the switch and encountered helpful community like yourself.

Hi, You can set up the account pin by ''reseting''  it with the following link:

https://myaccount.publicmobile.ca/en/account/reset/pin

Log to your account first an then use the link

Thank you, I am aware of the VM pin difference and have set the vm config, vm pin, VM greeting.. just concerned about that misleading text from 611 and how to interpret it, and more importantly some pin Ive been told was set which was not initiated by me during any setup via the public mobile phone app. Rest went smoothly, though I was a dummy and tried to do the process without wifi. Was away from home, on the road, hah.

Thanks, but how would I set such 611 pin access? Don't see it in menus unless it's buried and I'm missing it. Voicemail PIN I'm aware of and set and realize the difference.

Hey @John-YYZ

I just ported over my other phone to PM and got the same message. I also ported 6 other people in the last few weeks and they all got the same message. In my opinion, I think it's an outdated message within the apps coding that's been overlooked. Once you go into your voicemail, it will ask you to set a passcode for it. Once your passcode is set, you don't have to worry about that odd message. 🙂

HI @John-YYZ

the PIN is the account pin, is to be used when you are accessing your account via *611 or support agent will ask you for that for validation if you open ticket with them

for Voicemail setup, you can access My Account, Profile and reset Voicemail there for resetting the voicemail PIN
