New Rewards?

Tech20000

Just got a text I was losing my rewards.   News to me!  What does that mean?  Do I lose my $4 a month loyalty and $1 a month refer a friend?  I am getting frustrated with Public Mobile.  Thinking of leaving for a more transparent company.  Thanks everyone!

HI @Like2cook

no cheat, you can change carrier and businesses can also change rewards system.  It is on the fine print you missed.  It said clealry with sufficient notice, they can terminate or change rewards program.

yes, lots of competition, there are many carriers around.

it is a cheat. They should have kept the old system going for the clients who had it before Telus took over. And what is it with the govt. allowing the small companies to be swallowed by the bigger ones? Then, there is no Competition left we have to do what they say and pay the price.

And after that you will have to move to $40/- a month?

After losing my rewards my monthly fee went up $6 so I switched over to Telus Prepaid.  $100 for the year takes me back to the price I was paying with Public.  Plus they have a Bonus on now for unlimited talk and text for 2 years for no cost.

big deal... data loyalty....

I and my partner were having $5 each of us for loyalty and now it is gone.
The solution for us was to downgrade our plan by $5 each, but they lost my loyalty forever. No more love 🙂 , no more referrals.

Yes it’s a manual step to redeem now  I think in $15 increments

I just didn't like how they suspended my account, was it to get to the new rewards system, my credit card info was up to date.

I still have to look into it, with these new rewards , do we have to log in each month and transfer points/money on our next bill.  I liked that it was automatic to get my discounts

My texts kept saying my credit card info was going to expire, I ignored it because it wasn't true,  What they did was suspend my account!  Was this to transfer to the new rewards system?  Mad for sure.  Looks like 3 of us will look for a better plan

It is frustrating for sure . My understanding (i am being converted soon) is you get 5% in points monthly , $10 loyalty each anniversary, and $1 per month per referral. It the end all telecoms are trying to squeeze as much money as they can from you so always shop around . For my situation there is currently no equal or cheaper plans out there so I stay for now

Agree with you ........we as a family is looking around. So 3 members will eventually be lost to public mobile.

Further I cannot use the phone out of North America.

I do agree.....with the rewards I was paying around $9. And now it has jumped to $16. And I am not happy.

I used to sing the praises of Public mobile .......but no longer. They have shortchanged the loyal  clients. Because the points are not equivalent to cash discounts that were received earlier.

The less rewards you are talking about is less than half we were used to.

I used to be at $ 9 approx. a month and now I am paying $16. The rewards compensation do not compute to the redemption of through the point system at the end of the day.

You have forced us to move to the point system. At least the compensation equivalent should have be the same for the people who have been with the company for so many years. We should be grandfathered in this situation.  I think this new point system is hoodwinking the customers.

hi @Fredthedog1

yes, you might be earning less rewards, but at the end, PM could still be the better place

Some member here just don't like the change so much and decided to leave even they need to pay more, not a rational move.

Fredthedog1

Yes I was getting $8 as well automatically each month . Now I figure it will be maybe $5 that I manually need to redeem in $15 increments . Not great for sure . However , for $35 less discounts I get 50 GB Canada US data as well as calling. I haven’t seen anywhere I can beat that so I will stay for now .

....And my loyalty is gone, too.

The whole family has been using Public Mobile because of the rewards.
It is time to move away. I was receiving $8/month.

It it time to shop around.

I agree it sucks but right now it’s still the best deal I can get so I’ll sick around for now .

Fredthedog1

At the end of the day none of these companies are earn your loyalty. Just go wherever the best deal is .

Fredthedog1

At the end of the day you owe nothing to public mobile . If you find a better deal elsewhere it’s best to go there .

It has been about 2 weeks since my complaint was accepted by CCTS.  Still waiting.....

Yup... time to move on ladies and gents, corporate greed has reared it's ugly face again.

Sleven

Ya unfortunately.
Right now I get 30GB for $29. I use no where near that amount.  I'd be really comfortable on a 10GB plan. There's a lack of plans between 4GB-20GB.

I have the exact same issue with savings, but the pricing is still cheaper than any companies I can find.

I am doing the same thing, I’ll be going to the Freedom Mobile website to activate with them.  I am not even going to port my number.  That’s how done I am with Public Mobile/Telus.  They should have grandfathered the rewards program for existing long time customers. I’ve been a customer for 6 years.

8 years and all I got was 250 GB of already expired data and 5 points.  🖕 PM

Right!?
Currently getting $5 off for loyalty + $2 for Auto Pay. $7x12  $84 off.
Under New Rewards I get...  (29*.05) 1.45 * 12months = 17.4 + 10 (per year)  27.4 pts  = Not even $30.
Time to shop.

The exact thing happened to me too. I had $6 in credits now gone. I'm also frustrated because up until yesterday if I had switched over to the new program on my own, I would have gotten a one-time credit of 5 points. Now I'm left with nothing after over 5 years of being a loyal customer. I also kept checking how much my bill would be after the switch but there was never any way to see that information. Ridiculous. I think I'll be leaving too, the only thing is I don't know where else I can get a plan for less than $20. 😞

You will get 5% back in points every $1 you spend on your plan excluding tax. Refer a friend will stay as well as community rewards. You will get 10 points annually as a thank you and 5 ond time points when you login to the dashboard. It can be used to redeem a $15 bill credit or any add-on.
