@Jay007 Yes you will know when old providers sim doesn’t work and PM one does . If you have any trouble there’s a number for live support to give status update or re trigger the port if needed . Will send you it private message just in case . But I’m confident you are armed with all the knowledge for a successful port

A critical part to porting is to receive a text from your old provider and you have to reply YES within 90 mins.
You got the text on your old provider's sim and you replied?
If so, now you need to reboot your phone every 30 mins until you got incoming calls on your PM sim. Once the PM sim got the incoming calls, your porting is all done and your old account on the old provider will be closed as part of the porting process

Leaving your old providers SIM card in phone . You will receive a text from them to confirm the port you will have 90 mins to reply YES to this text . Once you do continue using old providers sim .with in mins or half hour sometimes 2 hours your old providers sim will stop working then switc to the PM sim this way you will not loose any calls or messages while port is being completed . And once successfully ported it will automatically close you old providers account for you and welcome to public mobile 😉

@Jay007 wrote:Hello at what point in will I be asked to keep the same number using Esim because right now its asking me to pay for my plan
It never used to be this way @Jay007 . It was always pay at the end of the activation. But this has all recently changed unfortunately.
Are you activating through the app? I believe that is the only way you can activate now with latest updates here.
You could also activate with a new/temporary number. Then in your My Account once you are activated and services are working, you can perform the transfer/port request through your Public Mobile My Account.

@Jay007 - there is no phone number for Public Mobile support. You can message Public staff privating in your Community Inbox, or ask here in the Public forum.
See helpful info. here in the GET HELP articles public mobile provides about transferring your number: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/get-help/articles/transfer-your-number

@Jay007 fastest way for new physical SIM card would be to call around to local Telus Koodo store for availability. Or if your phone supports eSIM you. Can just go ahead and sign up on app right now no physical SIM card needed . But if I were you I’d stick to physical SIM card . I prefers these over eSIM

you can request bringing in your number during activation.
Here are the steps:
Confirm your number is eligible to port into PM (it is a Koodo site because both Koodo and PM use the same Telus system):
https://secure.koodomobile.com/checktransfereligibilityparrot/checkSingle.do
Then, make sure your old provider account is still active. Login to your old provider account and make note of the account number
Next, get a Public Mobile sim card from
- local Telus/Koodo/Mobile Klinik stores: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/bc/pick-up-SIM (call ahead to confirm availability )
- Amazon.ca: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07R6P5KBB/ (Free 7 to 10 days Shipping)
- PM online: https://www.publicmobile.ca/sim-card (Delivery could take anywhere from 5 days to 3 weeks)
Once you have the sim card, activate your account by using the PM app (preferred way) or online on PM web site - https://www.publicmobile.ca/plans , pick a plan and click Subscribe. (Please note you can start from the site but you will still need to download the app to complete the activation after the payment step).
After the payment step, you will get to the phone number step. You will request to Transfer your exiting number instead of picking a new number. Please provide your current phone number and the account number of the old provider as the porting info.
Once activation is completed , still have the old provider sim card in your phone. Your old provider will send you a SMS and ask your permission for the porting. You need to reply YES within 90 mins for the porting to complete
Once replied yes, you can put your PM sim card in a phone and wait for incoming calls to come. Reboot your phone ever 30 mins and test incoming call from another line. If incoming call reaches your PM sim card, then the Porting is completed

@Jay007 When you activate on the PM app you will have a opportunity to to transfer number (port ) from old provider follow the prompts and only use old provider account number and not the phones IMEI number as this only causes hiccups . And be sure to leave old providers sim in phone to receive confirmation text that you want to port number to PM you will have e 90 mins to reply YES. To this text and that’s it
