My phone calls strange number in the background to the 5875804001 number.
Does it use the minutes from my plan?

Heh, I remember in the days of olde (80's) My mom in Vancouver and my aunt/her sister in Victoria using the BC Tel (now Telus) voicemail system to leave messages for each other which would avoid long distance charges because it was a local call for everyone. Probably *98. And it still works today, but with full local numbers in each city too. Worked pretty well when pretty much every land line was guaranteed to be on the same voicemail system...

Or dial 5875804001 directly from the land line to avoid ringing your phone. You'll have to enter more digits though: 1 for english, then your number xxxyyyzzzz, * when your announcement is playing, then your password(PIN).
It's also how you can leave stealth voicemails for other people without ringing their phone. 🙂
Calling that number from another phone that also happens to be with Telus Mobility/Koodo/PM will go into that services voicemail. PM limited plans don't consume minutes on calls that drop to voicemail.
It's best just to dial ones number and press * (star/asterisk) at the greeting.
I get a kick out of your stealth thing.

@1feland That is Public's voicemail number. We you receive a call and you are not available it goes to voicemail. That does not use minutes so nothing to be worried about. Checking voicemail from your phone though does use minutes.
If you would like to avoid using minutes when checking voicemail just dial your number from a landline hit * and follow the prompts.
