Mexico Calling Out

CanuckJakee16

This has happened many times now, I am in Mexico, have the Can/US/Mex plan, when I try to make a call from Mexico I get a message saying the call failed, 5B1 phone is not equipped to receive calls or something like that, both my phone and my wife’s phone have same message, data and connecting to providers work fine, just can’t call out, additionally calling out from US works fine, too late for this trip but I’d like to know why it’s not working, this is not the first time this has happened in Mexico, it actually may never have worked before

@CanuckJakee16

what cell network does your cell show ? I found that calls on the Movistar network can be unreliable and I would have to manually select either AT&T or Telcel.

Were you able to receive phone calls while in Mexico?

What model phone are you using?

hi @CanuckJakee16

try reboot your phone and try

Try all these ways to call Canadian and US number when you are in Mexico.  (Some confirmed only one of these ways work for them, so really try them all)

  • +1 <area code> <7 digits>
  • 001 <area code> <7 digits>
  • 00+1 <area code> <7 digits>   (key is to use a + in between the 00 , actual dial the plus sign, it does not mean concatenation)
  •  00 1 <area code> <7 digits>

@CanuckJakee16   Dial 00 + 1 then area code and number. Dialing the plus sign is the key (hold zero key to achieve the plus sign)
