I've encountered a strange issue with MMSes on my current Public Mobile plan. Whenever someone sends an MMS, I receive it as a group message with the sender, myself, and my old phone number. My old number was with T-Mobile in the US, so it has no relation to my current Public Mobile sim card. The plan is also no longer active, so I have no one to contact at T-Mobile. Any idea why this is happening?

Not exactly the same as what was happening to you, but for an app such as Viber, it authenticates your phone number but calling you one time for activation purposes. Because of that, it is actually possible for such an application to be associated with a phone number that you no longer have, or even one that is in use my somebody else (if the phone number was never updated for that software program for an extended period of time).

Oh wow - you're right. I'm using Signal and I forgot my old number was paired with the app. Seems to be working now.

Try using different messaging app such as google hangouts or imessage if you are using iphone.

Could this be an issue with the messaging app.
