I have lost my phone and decided to give up and use another phone and bought a new sim. sim is a koodoo but was told it will work with public mobile. I went into self serve but it will not allow me to change sim. Just keeps defaulting to back to zeros??? Very frustrating

You need to settle the account down first. Reactivate then change sim.
Then you can see about the phone. It should be fine but you should know it's no longer supported by Apple.

Is it possible to phone we are trying to use the service with is too old? iPhone 5

Is it still suspended? It needs to be active to be able to change the sim.

Yes correct lost/stolen procedure

what did you do to " deactivating and reactivating" You meant took it off Lost/Stolen status?
There seems to be some sim card change problem last couple days. Maybe open ticket with CS agent and they will manually switch it for you:
open a ticket with PM CS Agent at : https://publicmobile.ca/chatbot. Follow this to get to ticket open screen quicker:
start by typing : Contact CS Agent
then Click "Contact Us"
then Click "Other"
finally Click "Click here to submit a ticket"
you will then direct to another page to open ticket.
After ticket is submitted, make sure to check your Community Inbox(top right corner envelope icon) periodically for response from PM's CS Agent
If you have problems submitting a ticket, you can also send a private message to the CS Agent (but this can take longer):

I was able to get a new public mobile SIM. It still will not allow me to update the new sim #. Even after deactivating and reactivating? Will I have to create a whole new account??

SIM purchase in person at a Telus or Koodo corporate store. Refer to this site for a list of some stores close to you.
Or buy online....2 choices.....PM or Amazon. I would go with Amazon.

HI @Alexandf
I have a Koodo sim with me . I followed your instruction, using Incognito mode, but PM My Account still not accepting my Koodo sim card. Why? Why? What happened? So, I open a ticket with PM CS agent and they can put my Koodo sim card on my PM account? Magic

Where did you buy the koodo SIM card? Normally SIM cards are non-refundable but the salesperson who sold you the koodo Sim card gave you false information. I would go back to that retail location and ask for the manager and ask for a refund.
Bring all of the packaging that your Koodo SIM card came with when you return it. You have not activated it so it can be reused by the retail location that you purchase it at if they do retail Koodo activations they will easily be able to reuse it.
Unfortunately Public Mobile SIM cards are only available at retail locations of koodo and Telus corporate locations since they went online only on July 13th 2022. I suggest you Google koodo and telus to see if there are any locations in your area and then call ahead of time to make sure they have Public Mobile SIM cards in stock.
They retail at the price of $10 plus tax. Public Mobile shipping times are rather unreliable and may take 3 days or up to 3 weeks to receive your sim card. If you're unable to buy them locally you can always tell us your location and there may be another community member in your area that may be able to help you out.
Have you suspended your service via lost / stolen in your account? This will ensure until you can replace and swap out your sim card anyone who may find your phone cannot use your services.
If you have sensitive personal or financial information on your phone such as your banking app or email etc.. you may want to erase the data remotely if your phone is still connected to the internet. These options are found in find your phone or the phones find your phone app if your brand of phone has that option.

What are YOU talking about??? Stop copy/paste useless and misleading posts.

Koodo SIM will not work at PM. Neither Telus.
You need genuine PM SIM. Go back and return it and ask for PM SIM. What a crooks to tell you that (i am sure with the smile on their faces).

See "How To Change Your SIM Card" at the bottom of this Help Article: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/sim-swap-fraud
@Alexandf - swapping a public mobile sim card will not work with a koodo sim card.
edit, can you go back to where you bought the Koodo sim card and tell them you needed a Public mobile one?
