How many times did you try incorrect codes before you received the correct one? There's a limited number of times you can try before it locks and even the correct unlock code won't work anymore. If that's the case, I think you have to contact Sony to get them to unlock it with their special code, before you can then unlock it the rest of the way with the unlock code you got from Rogers.

You could try some of the steps on this page to see how many code attempts you have left:

https://sim-unlock.net/simlock/Sony/Xperia_Z/

Note on that page where it says:

"Sony Xperia Z has a limited amount of unlocking attempts. Usually all Sony Xperia Z have 5 tries. If your Sony Xperia Z has a blocked code counter, there are no tries left, you cannot unlock this device by code.
Important !!! Sony Xperia Z with a blocked code counter will still ask for a network unlock code.
Even if you enter the correct code it won't work with a blocked code counter.

The code counter can be reset only by an official Sony service."

I don't know what model you have and if Z is different from other Xperias, but hopefully that helps!

@Tony26

You might need to call Roger's to see whether your phone is still locked with them.  They can give you an unlock code for free these days.

If 1234 or 0000 don't work, sometimes this kind of message can be referring to a different kind of code.

What kind of phone is it, and what is the exact message you're getting?

I thought the same thing at first, like maybe his actual phone local password but his subject line "locked sim need new pin or puk" so I didn't go any further but cant hurt to ask

Well and on Samsung at least, "PUK" can have a meaning you wouldn't expect - I described my experience with specific Samsung messages here:

Thats good info thanks, I will quote your post in the future 🙂

Try 1234 and 0000

If it does not work do as @popping says above

To get PUK code, reach out via private message to our support teams. Click this to send them a message

PIN unlock key (PUK) is a SIM-specific code used to prevent unauthorised use of a SIM card.

The PIN (Personal Identification Number) enables secure access to the SIM card and network. It is provided with your SIM card.

  • If the PIN code is entered incorrectly 3 times, the phone is locked (except for emergency calls) and requires a PUK (Personal Unlock Key) to reactivate it.
  • Once the PUK is recovered and validated, you will be asked to choose a new PIN.

Caution! If the PUK is entered incorrectly up to ten times in a row, the SIM card becomes unusable.

To get PUK code, reach out via private message to our support teams. More info here
