Hi @christinand

Public Mobile works on following frequencies:

  • For 3G use (UMTS/HSPA): 850MHz/1900MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 1700MHz/2100MHz bands
  • For 4G/LTE use: 700 MHz band

Here is the link to samsung a53 spec https://www.samsung.com/ca/smartphones/galaxy-a/galaxy-a53-5g-awesome-black-128gb-sm-a536wzkaxac/?ci...  which shows 3G band used by samsung a53 is B1(2100), B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B8(900)

As per this a53 supports public mobile 3g band

It's true that the Galaxy A53 5G does work at Public Mobile, but the infromation provided by Public Mobile is inaccurate incomplete.  There are also other LTE bands used that they have failed to mention.

If the phone had 5G capability, the phone will connect to 4G and 3G (throttle down 4G) plan you are on.

5G is not cracked up what it is.

- Frequency can’t go through walls so you need to be outside for it to work.

- Speed test on YouTube shows that 4G is faster than 5G. This depends on how close you are on a 5G tower. 3G and 4G towers are built out but not for 5G yet.

Yes, you can. I use my 5g phone on the $15 3g plan.

hi @christinand your phone is fully compatible with PM network.   It is a 5G phone but it is backward compatible to be used on 3G or 4G networks
