Internet Access configuration for Dumb phone

dthisner

I just got myself a Nokia 225 4G and I am having issues with accessing internet. Anyone who knows the configurations for a dumb phone?

Apparently I am not able to enter an AccessPoint longer then: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy

Thanks,

Dennis

This worked for me, both internet and MMS. Added reply to: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Get-Support/Help-setting-up-MMS-and-Data-on-Nokia-331...

Only thing that does not work for me is when I am trying to do a software update.

NOTE!

The MMS Set Home Page is HTTP, do not use HTTPS! <<--- remove the S

Yes I saw that and the 1 other thread from someone else who had that phone before, but neither of them got MMS to work either. For internet, all you need is the APN to be set up. Did you do that already?

Looks like I got internet 🙂
now the system software updater complains that it does not have interet... we see how it goes 🙂 thank you for your help

All you really need is sp.mb.com as the Access Point Name - have you tried this yet?

The Telus access point will likely not work on Public Mobile, though you're welcome to try it.

The Gateway and Port settings are needed only for MMS, which you can't use anyway because you can't set up the MMSC on your phone.

IP type will have to be IPv4, since PM does not support IPv6 yet. Network type will also have to be HTTP I'm guessing. I can't be for sure because you haven't specified what the available options shown are on your phone. Some phones have a IPv4/IPv6 option for IP Type that is the safest bet.

I have one named Telus that has following:
Access Point: sp.telus.com

Gateway: 74.49.0.18

Port: 80

Set Home Page:
DNS: 0.0.0.0

Network type: HTTP

IP Type: IPV4

Set "sp.mb.com" as the AccessPoint, and leave everything else blank. For Network/IP type, you should have a couple options, what are they?

it is difficult, since my settings names does not correspond to the one to the first link you sent

I have:
AccessPoint

Gateway

Port

Set Home page

DNS address

Network type

IP type

Oh okay, I understand now. That setting is only necessary for sending MMSes, you should still be able to use internet on the phone without it. Have you entered everything else?

I am not able to enter: http://aliasredirect.net/proxy/mb/mmsc into my APN settings It is to long

Here's a website with some additional information about the APN settings on that particular phone:

@dthisner

If it's a 4G phone then it needs to have APN settings. Here's the thread with the settings that you need to have: https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Get-Support/How-do-I-set-up-data-APN-on-my-smartphone...

Are you able to find where to set these up on your phone?
