International talk and text plan

Hi,

can you give me more information on International plans.  let say I leave for a 6 weeks vacation in the US and would need an international data, talk and text plan for this period?

HI @150731IT   For 6 weeks, it is 40+ days,  I think it is too much to pay for roaming and too much trouble for renewing every 10 days

I think it is best to buy US local data prepaid package and then use VoIP app for callings.  That is a lot cheaper and give you more data.

At the same time, you should disable Autopay before your trip.  As the end of that cycle , PM cannot renew via Autopay and your account will be suspended.   You can reactivate your account when you are back in Canada (but make sure this is no more than 90 days).  So, with this , you will hopefully save some money and can use that towards your US data SIM

Here is price list for US roaming packages. It might be costly to buy 10 after 10 days. Plus for talk you have to wait 24 hours before buying another one. If you do not plan to talk from a car or while walking on the street AND have free WiFi around you, get TextNow app (android) for free calls and SMS.

International calls can only be used while you are in Canada.

As @Anonymous noted, you will need to purchase a Roaming Add-ons while you are in the USA.

There are other options to look at if you are staying longer than 2 weeks.

- purchase a local SIM like Mint or Tello etc down where you are going

- use VoIP app like WhatsApp or TextNow through wifi

There are only 10 day US roaming add-ons here. So for 6 weeks that could get expensive. Pick up a US provider service for while you're away. You might want to not let your account renew here if you're not using it for that long. Or use a wifi voip app that can do talk and text. There's wifi practically everywhere these days.
