Infinix Zero 8 support

mb2020
Great Neighbour / Super Voisin

I have searched the web with no clear answers. I would like to know if Infinix Zero 8 would be supported on public mobile network.

here are phone specs: https://www.gsmarena.com/infinix_zero_8-10401.php

I also tried willmyphonework.net but the Zero 8 model is not listed there.

Any ideas?

@softech : May I suggest making your solved post a little more obvious with the seeming correction. I might suggest to the OP to review their chosen solution too but they're probably gone.

I agree the site is not the best.. that's why I would still check the manufacturer site if possible..  But for phone like this with so many missing bands, better avoid if OP has not got it yet.. better safe than sorry.

I long ago lost "faith" in kimovil as a reference. gsmarena is excellent but not 100% clear on variants. The manufacturer wins - though still can be not 100% clear with variants.

@mb2020   yes, the spec from manufacturer site confirms that while the phone will work on this network, BUT it won't work great.. you might encounter drop calls and lost data in some area.  I would avoid this phone if you have not get it yet

Again,   Any phone you are considering should ideally have 3G B2, B5   and LTE B4 (or B66 instead of B4), B12 (or B17 instead of B12)  for minimum coverage.

I don't know folks. The very same link provided by the OP seems to suggest it's rather light in the 3G bands.

The manufacturer specs agree. I'd keep looking.

Edit: again with the refreshing and some posts are not there. And then they are.

@mb2020 It's worth noting that the gsmarena link in your description states that 3G is NOT supported for the 1900 MHz band on that phone (which Telus uses quite extensively throughout Canada).

The screenshots my friends have provided above show otherwise. I have no way of knowing for sure which one of the two to believe.

@mb2020   one more notes,  the 2 bands this phone has  are not the best for this network, you might still get bad reception out of it

Any phone you are considering should ideally have 3G B2, B5 (which it has  which it has only band 5)   and LTE B4 (or B66 instead of B4), B12 (or B17 instead of B12) (your phone does not have these bands) for minimum coverage.

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands:

  • 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz (band 5), 1900 MHz (band 2) and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS).
  • HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS).

Always good to check whether a phone will work with any provider, especially Public Mobile. Use more than one source to be sure.

https://willmyphonework.net

  • 3G or WCDMA 2 (1900 MHz ) and 5 (850 MHz) bands  makes the phone compatible, which is needed for phone calls, and can also be used for text messaging and data.
  • LTE can be used for text messaging and data.

@mb2020

The phone will work, but it doesn't support all of Telus' 4G LTE frequencies, so it would not be an ideal fit for the network.

from Kimoli, it will work.

3G will work without issue.

4G will work but it has only 2 compatible bands on PM

(Correction to the above image: this phone does NOT have B2)

(update based on my below comment: exact spec:

https://www.infinixmobility.com/smartphone/zero-8/specs

Any phone you are considering should ideally have 3G B2, B5 (which it has only band 5)   and LTE B4 (or B66 instead of B4), B12 (or B17 instead of B12) (your phone does not have these bands) for minimum coverage.)
