Other than the $15 plan fee, you don't pay for either within your plan's included usage. Incoming calls are unlimited if you have the current version of the $15 plan.  More minutes can be purchased when your 100 outgoing minutes run out, but that purchase needs to be made before you can continue to make those outgoing calls.

The details show everything. It's the overview counter that matters.

It's simple to test.

Forward to other number

Call your number and let it forward

Answer the other number

Stay on for a few moments

Hang up

Refresh counter after some moments

I did a quick test on call forward using the condition "not reachable".  My usage history is showing 0:01:12 minutes.  But my minutes usage count did not went up by 2 minutes.

This proves that conditional call forwarding does not use plan minutes.

@Nezgar

Thank you for the Youmail suggestion.

Fongo can also receive my FAX and send the FAX pdf file to my inbox.

But I have to call out at least once every 90 days to prevent Fongo from cancelling my number.

Fongo (or freephoneline.ca) are options to "conditionally" forward to, but also upon recommendation from others here I've recently been using Youmail, which is a dedicated 3rd party voicemail service that offers quite a bit of functionality for free.

On top of sending an email with the voicemail attached to an email, they transcribe the message to text, and block known spam callers. It works well without even installing their app. Only takes setting the three conditional forwards to a number they tell you during setup.

Always test and verify for yourself. YMMV always lurks.

My experience is the same with "troll" 🙂 free but global forwarding consumes minutes and conditionals don't.

Great, I will call forward my calls to my Fongo number under the following conditions:

- when no reply or answer,

- when not reachable or available,

- when busy

Fongo will answer my call and send the voice file to my email inbox.

- No more going through voicemails sequentially.

- No more deleted voicemail if I wait too long to retrieve it.

I will test the conditional forwarding a few days before the end of my current cycle.

Please note that calls to voicemail and forwarding calls will use plan minutes.

Call forwarding no longer uses minutes with the current $15 plan. (Nor do calls to toll free numbers as previously already mentioned)

I spent five+ hours on conference calls this weekend for work, to toll free numbers and people calling me. Still sitting at 8 minutes for this month. Cat Very Happy

Is the free call forwarding and toll free number applies to the old $10 50/50 plan?

@popping  I would think that it would be the same for the $10 plan.  I don't see why that one would be treated any different.

Edit: Although I guess it would need to be tested first?

@scarz613

Here is a good summary of the minutes tracker with PM:

Talk

Talk minutes are counted whenever you make or receive calls (not with $15 plan) on your phone. Talk time is calculated from the start of a call to when it is disconnected, and includes ring time and call routing. Total call time is always rounded up to the nearest minute. Please note that calls to voicemail and forwarding calls will use plan minutes.

Use Minutes

Doesn't Use Minutes

Making a call

Calling *611 (the IVR)

Answering a call (not with $15 plan)

Making or receiving calls from 911

Retrieving voicemail messages

Using calling apps when connected to Wifi

Using call forwarding

2.  Calling troll free number does not count toward your 100 outgoing minutes.

Yeah you definitely don't wanna talk to any trolls 🙂

Incoming free.

Outgoing you have 100 minutes.. if you talk 7 seconds that is considered a minute as your billed by the minute.

Voicemail cost minutes..you can call your cell number from another phone and when voicemail message starts to play press star * then enter voicemail password to save on minutes.

Also lots buy the $5.  500 minute Canada wide add-on. This add-on rolls over each 30 days until all used up. So it's a good backup

Two steps to buy a add-on. Guide below.

Your $15 plan has unlimited incoming calls and 100 Canada wide outgoing calls.

Update

1.  Your outgoing call will stop after using all your 100 outgoing minutes.  But you can purchase the $5 500 Canada wide minutes add-on as backup.  Add-on minutes does not have expiry date.  Any unused minutes will be rolled over to next billing cycle until all used.

2.  Calling troll free number does not count toward your 100 outgoing minutes.
