When I call to China's phon, it tips seems "six u m one". I don't know what it means. Two days ago I can call to China, but now can't. I have used 1/400 minutes the international talk.

Thanks all the help. Today, I can call to China. I understand that I was blocked 72 hours. Now it is right. Thank you!

Public mobile and Telus are separate companies.  So, you can't use Telus to see your account information.  However, as suggested in previous post, sometimes if Telus towers are not working in your area (ie. service disruption), that would affect Public mobile reception.

Earlier, it was mentioned to dial 01186 and then the number.  Have you tried by doing it with +86 instead?  They're both supposed to work, but believe that I've read that in some cases, only or the other has worked in the past for some customers for no apparent reason.

There's no blocking on the Public Mobile side. Perhaps the recieving side has some recent interference that won't allow your call. Try several times throughout the day to gain success. Look on the Telus website to see if there's any known distrubances with the network as Telus is PM's parent company.

Lol no thanks on Wechat - I already do what I can to minimize local surveillance, control, and censorship - I'm not interested in subscribing to foreign equivalents.

Are you sure you can attribute all your failed calls to active blocking? International calls already fail sporadically without neding to accuse censors. I'm assuming your calls tend to be about less exciting topics than political dissent, lol.

前几天还能打通,忽然之间就不行了,真是无语了!什么6um1,什么8um1,前几天刚办的400分钟长途包,就用了一分钟,都快整崩溃了

Trust me, I called my mom several times, and it was blocked, whatever landline or cell phone, sometimes I can reach her, but mostly recently it was blocked, it was disconnected, you can use other ways, like wechat, and see if I am right.

I've never heard of this. Yes China is known to block across-the-border websites, images, links, VPN traffic, ecrypted packets... But voice calls? I doubt China would included in the International Long Distance Add-on if they didn't accept calls dialed with it.

I think the problem is not your SIM card, it is because China sometimes block all international phone calls oversea. Try another phone, see if you can connect the phone no. you tried to call, and let us know.

I am link to PM service issue yesterday, but it seems can't solve the problem.

sorry, it sill not work.

@yzhou

If you put your SIM card in another phone and it is still not working. then it probably is a PM service issue.  Just make sure that you are dialing the correct way as described previously.  I am assuming the rest of the plan features are working  ie. local calling, data, text.

If it is a PM service issue, then you will need to contact moderator.  Click on the quesiton mark on the right lower corner to start the ticketing process to get moderator help.

Which part of China are you trying to call?

My understanding is that Hong Kong is included in PM International Long Distance Add-on, Taiwan is not included, "disputed" areas claimed by China (like Tibet, Myanmar/Burma, and numerous islands) are probably not included.

@yzhou

To call China from Canada, dial: 011 - 86 - Area Code - Land Phone Number 011 - 86 - 11 Digit Mobile Number

Follow the dialing format shown above while calling China From Canada.

  • 011 - Exit code for Canada, and is needed for making any international call from Canada
  • 86 - ISD Code or Country Code of China
  • Area code - There are 346 area codes in China. If there is an area code dial area code of the city in China you are calling after dialing ISD Code. If there is no area code dial the Recipient's Telephone Number after ISD Code.

Thank you, but the three ways you mentioned I have tried, but it still not work.

@yzhou

Does the rest of the features work?  Ie. calling local, texting, data?

Maybe try rebooting your phone or toggle airplane mode on, then off.

You could also try your SIM card in another phone to help determine whether it is a hardware/phone issue versus PM service problem.

China is in the list.  Are you dialing the number correctly?  Is it all Numbers or one specific number?
