I'd like more details about the US roaming add-on plans

Hello,

I have a few questions about the add-on US roaming plans.

1) Last year I was only on 3G with public mobile and I bought the US roaming plans and they didn't work, and I learned later it's because they're taking down the 3G towers in the US. Now I'm on 4G with Public Mobile, so if I buy a roaming plan will it work this year? I have 2 trips to the US coming up in the next month.  Or do I need to upgrade to 5G so I can use my phone there?

2) I see the plans are good for 15 days,, is that 15 days from when I purchase, or 15 days from when I arrive in the US?     Also is this unlimited talk / text + 3G of data for option 2?

3) I have used 94% of my Int'l minutes...and I never make int'l calls, so I don' t know how I'm using up these minutes - how do I see what phone #s have been called, is it marketers calling me and leaving me messages?  I only call Canada and the US and I call my Mom in Australia using WhatsApp which uses wifi and I tested it last night and called her and the minutes didn't change, so it's not those calls either. I'm confused as to what these minutes are. How do I find out?

Let me know.  Thanks very much.

Hi @jumblbug1

Depending on when you're going down to the US, you can always change your plan to one of the Can/US plans for the time you're there then switch back on renewal date. Then depending on when you go for your second trip, you can do the same thing. Depending on what plan you have, it might be better to pay a big extra to get a Can/US plan vs an add on. Also, if you're going down to the US twice within a 3 month period for a few weeks here and there, if you don't care about using your PM number, you can always look at Mint Mobile.  They are 90 day plans and are on sale right now. Guess it really depends what you want to do. Hope this helps.

Thanks so much for your help.  I appreciate it.  I have written to support as well.

1,a. Text and data should work fine. Talk depends on volte or 2G GSM.

1,b. No need to change plans.

2,a. Purchase

2,b. Yes

3,a Inbound calls don't take minutes. You can see all your usage in usage details.

3,b. Do you mean the freebie international minutes or the 300 minute version? The freebies included Canada and US.

Adding - typing on mobile.

@jumblbug1  You don’t need to change plans to have US roaming thou some plans are CAN /US plans have the roaming built in . The most important part of roaming in the US when it comes to voice is if your account is enabled for voLTE and you can test this by setting phone network to LTE making sure wifi is turned off and place a call does it stay on LTE or does it drop to 3G if stays LTE volte is enabled and you should have better experience for voice in the US then you did last year . As for when you mins where used you may have to ask support for that
